A few minutes after he left, there was a knock at the door. She panicked. She looked through the peephole and saw Patrice, she quickly opened the door and hugged her best friend. "Patrice, oh, my God! What are you doing here? Come in." Alice said, pulling her in.
"As soon as your parents let me know you were saved I hopped on a plane and headed here. I needed to see you. How are you? Are you okay?" Patrice said, hugging her again.
"Oh, Patrice. You were right all along! I should've not trusted him. He's a psychopath. He killed Landon!"
"What?"
"And he's the one that ran you over."
"Why would he do something like that? What is going through his mind?"
"He's crazy. He said you guys were obstacles in our relationship and needed to be taken care of. He said Landon was never going to leave me alone and you were interfering too much in the relationship. I should've never given him my number, Patrice."
"You didn't know. We really didn't know."
"I'm going to be sick, sorry." Alice said, running to the bathroom.
"Are you okay?" Patrice asked when she came out and sat back down.
"I don't know. I started feeling sick last night. That's how I was able to escape." She said, rubbing her stomach. "Oh, no." She realized.
"What? What is it?"
"Patrice, I'm late. Like really late. I didn't think about my period while being captive, hell, I didn't even know how long I was gone. But I haven't had my period in two months. The last time was a few days before he kidnapped me."
"You don't think it might be the stress of being kidnapped?" Patrice asked hopefully.
"Could I be so lucky?"
"I'll be right back. I'll buy some tests." Patrice said, running out of the apartment.
Her mother came out of the room. "You think it's true?" Julia asked, looking at her daughter with a look of disbelief. "Sorry, I heard you talking to Patrice just now. I heard you in the bathroom and was coming out to check on you when I heard."
Alice got up the couch and ran to her mother and hugged her. "What am I going to do if it's true? I might be carrying his child."
"Let's do the test when Patrice comes back and find out first."
Half an hour later, Patrice walked in with five different tests and Alice took them all. And all were positive. Alice started crying, while Patrice held her and her mother shook her head. "This is not happening to me." Alice said.
"You know, there are options." Patrice said.
"Yes, you are getting rid of it. It's an abomination." Julia said enraged. "Wait until your father hears of this."
"I can't have an abortion, mom. It's not the baby's fault."
"Alice, you were raped!"
"When it was conceived, I was still in love. You see, I loved the baby's father. No matter what."
"Do you still love him? After everything he did to you? After what he did to us?" Patrice asked.
"No, I hate him. I'm scared of him. But I'm not going to hurt this baby."
