The next few days, Alice spent them immersed at work. She would have lunch with Mike every day and the evenings were spent finishing schoolwork and reading the books from work. She was getting the hang of it.

Landon still hadn't shown any signs. After work she drove to his parents house. It's been a week already, and even though they weren't together anymore, she was worried. He had been part of her life for a long time. As she got to the house, she remembered all the times she spent there. Her first kiss was on the driveway. They were sixteen, he had just won a football game and he drove them to his house for dinner and asked her if she wanted to be his girlfriend, giving her that first kiss.

She got out of the car and rang the doorbell. Laura Rogers, Landon's mother, opened the door. "Alice, darling. What a surprise!" She said, hugging her.

"Hi, Laura. How are you guys doing?" Alice said as Laura opened the door all the way for her to go in.

"Well, not good. Donald has gotten worse." She said referring to Landon's dad who had been sick for the last few years. "And now with Landon missing. Have you heard anything?"

"No, that's what I came for. To see if you guys have any news and to offer my help in anything you need. Landon and I might not be together anymore, but he was a big part of my life."

"Oh, Alice." Laura said sniffling as she sat on a chair. "Nobody knows anything. He went for a jog and just took his phone, keys and wallet. His credit cards haven't been used . Where is my boy?"

"I'm sure he'll come up soon with a funny story of why he took off."

"You really think he took off and nothing bad happened to him?"

"I hope so, Laura."

"They said that the last time you two met a couple of days before he disappeared, you got into an argument at Luciano's."

"It wasn't really an argument. I was just upset and said some things."

"You don't think you two breaking up has anything to do with this?"

"No, Laura. We broke up a year ago. I just made it clear we weren't getting back together."

"I don't know what happened, but you two were perfect together. Everybody said it."

Alice looked at her watch and then at Laura. "I have to go, I have some papers to finish. Please, if you hear anything let me know."

"You do the same, darling."

"Say hi to Donald from me."

She got in her car and drove away replaying that last night she saw Landon. Calling him pathetic, screaming at him. Embarrassing him in front of her parents and all those strangers at the restaurant. Did she really cause his disappearance? Was she responsible? No. He was a man for God's sake. He wasn't going to throw everything away because of her tantrum. It's not the first time she yelled at him and she knew he'll come back and it won't be the last time she would yell at him. Because he would hear from her alright when he reappeared, he would have an earful for having her worrying about him so much.
