She took the bus home. Feeling a bit buzzed. She usually didn't drink beer. As she got off the bus and started walking to her apartment, she started thinking about Mike again. How was she going to break up with him? She didn't have it in her to meet with him. As she took the corner to enter the building, she heard her name. "Alice!"
She turned around and saw Mike standing there next to his car. "What are you doing here?"
"What do you mean? I'm here to see you. Haven't heard from you since Saturday." He said standing so close to her. "Did I do something wrong? Did something happen?" He asked, grabbing her hand.
She pulled back quickly. "I don't want to deal with you right now. But, I didn't think we should see each other anymore." There she said it.
"What? Why? What's going on?"
"Go back to your wife, Mike. Leave me alone." She started to walk away, but he grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"My what? What are you talking about?"
"Let me go or I'll scream!"
"No, you're going to explain yourself right now. We are going to talk." He said pushing her inside the car. As he closed her door she tried getting out but the door wouldn't open. He ran to the other side, got in and drove away from the apartment.
"Mike, I'm serious. Let me go, please."
"Not until you tell me what you're talking about my wife." He said seriously.
"I know the truth, Mike. I went over to your place yesterday and a woman opened the door and introduced herself as your wife."
"You went over to my place?"
"Yes. Now take me back home, better yet, just drop me off here. I don't want to spend another minute with you."
"No, we are going to talk about this. I never lied to you. I'm not married."
"I don't want to hear your excuses or any more lies. I'm done." She said still trying the door handle.
"Stop that. It's broken, you can't get out unless I open the door for you from the other side." He said as he kept driving out of the city.
"Mike, where are you taking me? My parents must be worried about me." She said looking through her purse for her phone. She took it out as it started buzzing. It was her mother. "See?" She was going to answer but he took it out of her hands and threw it out the window.
"What did you do that for? What has gotten over you?"
"You, Alice. You're assuming things that are not true, not letting me give you my side of the story. It's like you've already made a decision about us."
"I have. We are done!" She said, slapping him. He quickly pulled into a dark parking lot. There were no cars around. He got out of the car and opened the trunk. He came to her side of the door and pulled her out.
"All you needed to do was listen to me. Now, there's a change of plans."
"What plans? Where are we?" She asked scared as she looked around. She thought about running but there was nowhere to run and he was holding her tight.
"I love you, Alice. You are my everything. I didn't want to do this." He said as he took something out of his back pocket and she felt a sharp sting on her neck and everything went black.
