The days passed and he would only release her to go to the bathroom, shower and eat. And he would watch her the whole time. They were sitting on a chair, with Alice sitting on his lap, watching tv, when her picture came up on the screen.

"We are urging citizens if you know the whereabouts of Alice Fletcher , please call this number." The reporter said as a number flashed on the screen. "It is believed Mike Cunningham took her, he's dangerous and possibly armed." He said when a picture of Mike showed on the screen. It was a picture they got from before he grabbed her at her job. Mike got up and dropped her on the floor as the picture came on.

"How did they get that? I've always been so careful." He said as he paced on the floor. Alice crawled on the floor to the nearest door and opened it. A gust of wind hit her as she stood up and ran, finding herself facing an enormous cliff. It was dark and she almost slipped as she felt herself being yanked backwards by her hair. They walked back to the house. "You are so stupid, Alice! You just put your life and the life of our baby in danger." He took her to the room and tied her up. "You could've fallen to your death." He said as he stroked her head. "I can't live without you, Alice. You need to understand this."

"Mike, what type of life are we going to have living like this? Always on the run. Whenever I'm due, I'm going to need to go to a hospital. What would you do then?"

"People used to give birth at home all the time. We can do it."

"What if something goes wrong? What if the baby gets sick?"

"We'll be fine, Alice. We have everything we need here. If we're missing something I can always go into town and get it."

She pulled on her binds. Her wrists were already raw from the rope. She needed to get out of there. Now she knew the back door wasn't the escape route. But the front door must lead to the front, and the car must be there, otherwise how would he be able to go into town? She has to keep an eye on him, see where he puts the keys.

She was glad he hadn't touched her. He was afraid he might hurt the baby. She looked at him looking through the drawers and heard keys moving around. That must be where he keeps them. She started moving again and whimpered in pain. "What's wrong?" He asked, concerned, turning around.

"These binds, Mike. They are cutting into my wrists. And my arms hurt from being in this position for so long. I'm sure it's not good for the baby to put my body into so much stress."

He looked at her, thinking. He untied the rope and pulled her up. He pulled a chair next to the bed and sat her down. She looked confused as he grabbed the rope and tied her chest and legs down the chair back and legs. "Is that better?" He asked as she shook her head.

"This is uncomfortable, Mike. Do you expect me to sleep here, like this?"

"You were complaining about the bed, Alice. What do you want me to do?"

"Untie me and let me get comfortable, just one night without the rope. That's all I ask, please."

He went to the drawer and grabbed the keys then left the room. She could hear him locking all the doors and windows. He came back to the room hooking the keys to the back of his pants. He went back to the drawer and took out a gun as she gasped. "No reason to be scared. If you behave I won't need to use it." He put in the back of his pants and he untied her. "Go, lay down." He said taking the gun out and sitting on the chair she was in.

She slowly got in bed as her muscles ached. "Aren't you going to lay down with me?"

"No, Alice. I need to watch you." He said pointing the gun at her. "Try anything funny and I'll use it."

She laid down trying to fight the sleep. Trying to stay awake. He would pass out for sure. All she needed to do was grab the gun. Could she shoot him if it came to it? All the struggle made her even more tired. She fell asleep.
