Authors Note: this chapter is a flashback with Eden and Matt. If you haven't read the intro Eden's parents died involving a car crash with Fisk (Daredevil). This is the conversation between the two of them. Eden is also going to be 14 in this!

───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

Eden's in Matt's apartment. Her foot tapping the wooden floor as she sits on his couch awaiting his return, and as she does so, each step creates a creaking sound. Matt had told her two hours ago he needed to errands with Foggy.

Errands shouldn't take two hours... right?

Her mind is racing, imagining all sorts of scenarios. Maybe they got caught up in some legal drama, or maybe they got into a fight with some thugs. She tries to push the negative thoughts away, but they keep creeping back in.

"Where are you, Matty?" She was one click away from dialing him as her phone clutched to her right hand.

Supposedly, they were going to have a movie night while her parents went off to dinner. He went to grab candy, popcorn and soda. At least that's what she thought, anyway.

Maybe it had been longer than two hours. At that point she couldn't tell.

An instant later, there is a crash in the hallway. She leaps from her position, carefully moves over to the door, and leaves it slightly ajar so she can see where the noise came from. Eden peers through the crack in the door, her eyes darting around, trying to locate the source of the sound.

It's not a pretty sight. Foggy has Matt draped over his shoulder. He's struggling to get to the apartment. "Foggy!" Eden goes over and puts Matt's other arm around her.

"E...Eden? Go back inside," Foggy pants, he's sweating, his shirt damp and sticking to his skin. The weight of Matt is starting to become a burden, and he can feel his muscles straining under the effort.

"Foggy, you can barely get Matt to his room. Let me help."

Foggy grunts in irritation but nods,"Fine."

Eventually they make it back to the room and sit Matt onto the couch. Eden's gaze lingers on the gash on Matt's forehead, the dried blood forming a dark, jagged line across his pale skin. She notices the tell-tale signs of a struggle - his clothes are torn, his knuckles bruised and bloodied. It's clear that he fought back hard against whatever - or whoever - attacked him.

"How... who was it this time?"

He can barely move but he does his best to explain, "Eden... there's something you should know..."

"All I want to know is who the hell did this to you!"

"Eden, listen!" He raises his voice.

She jumps slightly, surprised at his voice being raised, "What?" Her voice goes soft and she takes a seat next to him.

"Fisk, he's the one who did this, but listen, Eden. Your...your parents, they-."

"No..." He didn't have to finish that sentence for her to know what he was going to say. They were gone.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. They were at the restaurant where he was and as they left..."

"They're gone."

Matt nods his head, tears were now spilling from his eyes. Foggy stood still, his face unreadable, he felt just as numb as Eden. He hadn't witnessed it, but once he got a call from Matt, he was there.

"They're really gone..." She tries to steady her breathing, but it's no use. Her heart is beating so fast she can feel it in her ears. Her palms are slick with sweat, and her mind is racing with a million questions. She wants to demand answers, to demand that Matt tell her everything, but she can't seem to find her voice.

Matt takes Eden into his embrace tightly as she cries into his shoulder. Letting her be there for as long as she needs. At this point forward he knew what he had to do.
