You hadn't been able to sleep easy the last few days. Ace had been spending the nights at your dorm, which helped, but sometimes you'd wake up in a cold sweat due to a terrible nightmare you had.

Your nightmares were typically of you walking out of your dorm building and tripping over the dead body. Only when you would turn around it was Ace lying on the ground, blood pooling around him and nails sticking out of his. Other times, you would dream you were walking around campus. No one was around though and the place gave off an eerie vibe. You would turn a corner and bump into a tall, shadowy figure. They would give you a sinister smile each time you would turn to run only to have your legs give out from under you. The figure would crouch down next to you and tell you how much it loved you as it gave you a bone crushing time.

You felt bad for your freckled boyfriend. You'd be crying and thrashing around in your sleep, which would wake up your boyfriend. He'd wake you up and cuddle you until you calmed down. It was a great comfort, but you couldn't help but notice the dark circles he was sporting.

Of course, your father was very worried about you. The day you tripped over the dead body was the day he went on an over seas business trip. He couldn't catch a flight back on such short notice and settled for knowing Ace was watching after you.

He did suggest you quit school and transfer to a different one or just go back home. It didn't sound like a terrible idea, but you pointed out that if you were being stalked that your stalker would most likely follow you. With a huff, your father agreed to let you stay at school, but said he was sending Shanks to check up on you.

You were delighted to see your favorite uncle. He wasn't allowed on campus, though. As an added security measure the cops weren't allowing anyone on campus unless they were a student, teacher, or staff. That didn't stop you and Ace from meeting up with your uncle off campus for lunch.

"So, what do the cops want you in for exactly?" Shanks asked as he pulled into the parking lot of the police station.

"Don't know. Detective Smoker just said some new evidence came to light and needed to ask me some more questions." You yawned. The dark circles under your eyes matched the ones Ace had.

"Whatever it is, hopefully it's quick. You need some sleep." Ace reached over and gently traced his thumb over your dark circles.

"Like you don't need some too." You reached out and playfully pinched his freckled cheek. He chuckled and grabbed your hand, holding it as you two followed your uncle into the police station. The first thing you noticed when entering the station was how the white laminate floors bounced the fluorescent lights back up into your retinas.

The receptionist had a few succulents lining their desk. It helped add some colour to the grey interior of the station. The receptionist asked your name and your business at the station. You three waited for a bit an officer came and led you all to Smoker's office.

"Miss. (Y/N), I see you brought company." Detective Smoker nodded to you and Ace, his attention turning to your uncle. "And you are?"

"I'm Shanks, (Y/N)'s uncle." Shanks introduced himself. Smoker just nodded and gestured for you three to take a seat. He had a brown leather love seat sofa in his office which was just enough room for you all to take a seat on.

"I'll get straight to the point. Your stalker and the murder are most likely the same person. The letter you received was written in the victims blood. Which is why I must ask again if you knew the victim?" Smoker reached into his desk and pulled out a photo. It was a typical school photo, the person in the photo was wearing a blue sweater with NWU printed in bold yellow. They had the awkward grin on their face that the photographer always told you to smile with. And their brown hair was a little fluffed up like they just rolled out of bed. "His name is Sam Jennings he was a third year at your school."

You looked over the photo a little unnerved that your stalker letter had been written in this person's blood. "He looks familiar, but I can't quite place where I've seen him."

"This might jog your memory. We checked through his phone records and surveillance cameras to see his movements before the day he died." Smoker flipped his laptop around for all three of you to see. On it was some security footage, he pressed play and you three watched the zoomed in footage.

There was no sound to accompany the footage, but none was needed. It was the day you and Ace went on a date. The footage showed you bumping into Sam, Sam grabbing onto your wrist, than Ace coming over and you walking off with your boyfriend.

"We only met him that once." You said once the video was over.

"Yeah, I've never seen him around campus." Ace added.

"I see. Mind telling me what was said during your short exchange?" Smoker grabbed a pen and notepad ready to write down whatever you said.

"I apologized for bumping into him. He asked if I wanted to go to his dorm with him, I said no. Then Ace came over and whisked me away."

"And did you say into him, Mr. Ace?" Smoker turned his attention to Ace.

"I glared at him. But no, I didn't say anything to him." Ace responded.

"You sure you didn't threaten him? Boyfriends tend to get jealous when another man hits on their girl." Smoker set his pen down and fixed his stare on Ace.

"I didn't threaten him. And what reason would I have to be jealous if (Y/N) wasn't giving the dude the time of day?" Ace shot back.

"Very well. You seem more the type to throw a punch than kill someone anyway." Smoker flipped his notepad close and grabbed a cigar from his pocket. You covered a small giggle with your hand, he had Ace figured out. "That's all I need to ask, so you're all free to go."

"Have a nice day." Shanks gave Smoker a quick smile before ushering you and Ace out of the room.

"That went... well." You said once you were in the backseat of your uncle's car.

"He was trying to find a reason to accuse me of being a murderer." Ace slightly pouted.

"But he didn't." You smiled and rested your head on his shoulder. "Besides I know you. You wouldn't kill anyone."

"I sure hope not. Benn would have a few choice... actions otherwise." Shanks chuckled. He pulled out of the parking lot and headed back towards campus. "I gotta go back home after dropping you kids off. Ace you make sure to look after her."

"Don't worry I will."
