"Still no idea on what Hawkins was doing?" Ace asked as he kept his eyes on the road.
"Nope. He came back an hour later and still didn't say where he went. Detective Smoker managed to find that Carl guy though, he still alive." You gazed out the window watching the trees pass by. You didn't have work this morning, and both your's and Ace's classes were in the afternoon, so your boyfriend decided to take you on a little date.
You were surprised Ace got up early enough to take you, or yourself for that matter. You had spent last night wondering where it was Hawkins had gone. If he was getting supplies for the store he would have told you, the fact that he didn't had you thinking he was up to something more suspicious.
"Anyways, enough talk about stalkers. Are we almost there?" You asked excitedly.
"Ten more minutes." Ace took a quick glance at his phone's gps. You two were going to a wolf sanctuary, it was half an hour out of town, you both decided to go to it this morning. Since the date was decided last minute, you were hoping your stalker wouldn't get wind of it and follow you. If they did, well then the road was pretty empty this morning, and there was a police cruiser following you two.
Although I don't know how stalkers follow their victims without being seen.
The grin on your face getting bigger as the sign for the wolf sanctuary came up. Ace turning down the gravel road, the police cruiser following you two, but pulled off on the side of the gravel road instead of going all the way to the parking lot with you two.
"Looks like we came at a good time." Ace parked close to the entrance, there were only a few other cars in the parking lot.
"Come on Ace, let's go." You practically bounced out of the car once it was parked. Ace chuckled and followed behind the you, his hand taking a hold of your's as you two walked into a building that looked like a rangers station.
"Where did all this energy come from? I thought you were tired?" Ace smiled watching the way you excitedly bounced in line. There were two people ahead of you, filling out waiver forms and paying the entrance fee.
"Of course I am. We get to walk with wolves." Technically you guys would be walking with wolfdogs. There were wolves at the sanctuary, but after glancing over the website, you learned the wolves here were being rehabilitated to be sent back into the wild, the only human interaction they got was from their handlers. The wolfdogs here had been pets before, their owners found them too much to handle, so they were given to the sanctuary. They were used to people and were fine with walking with humans in their huge enclosure.
"Next." The lady behind the desk called, you and Ace stepping forward. She handed you two each a waiver forms and some pens. "The wolfdogs are all up to date on their shots, so you don't have to worry about catching something if one of them bites you. They are friendly, but we ask that you don't forcibly pet them or walk them."
"They bite?" Ace asked as he handed his filled out form to the lady, you doing the same.
"Not typically. The last person to get bit here, was around five years ago. They were too forceful. A handler will tell you what body language to look out for." The lady took the forms and filed them away, she pointed you towards a door to walk through.
Stepping out the door you were greeted with a dirt clearing. There were a few benches scattered about and a bathroom next to the building you and Ace just came out of. Beyond the clearing was rows upon rows of trees, you could make out the medal fences of the enclosures.
A worker came over to you two, a bucket in their hands as they introduced themselves. "I'm Jay. You two will be walking with Zero and Jackel."
Jay went over some rules as well as body language to watch out for with the wolfdogs as they walked you over to the enclosure. Once inside the enclosure, the two wolfdogs trotted up to you three, mostly sniffing at you and Ace.
