Your dad and uncles were staying at a nice hotel, you were surprised your dad was able to get you and Ace a room last minute. There were security guards dressed in black suits at the entrance and by the main floor elevators. You also couldn't get into the hotel or use the elevators unless you had a room key.
You and Ace did still attend school, your dad or one of your uncles would drop you off. You two weren't left unguarded, two cops would follow you each around. One to stand outside the buildings your classes were held in and another to actually stand outside your classroom.
You didn't go to work anymore, the cafe had been closed. The cops haven't been able to find Hawkins, the blond just seemed to vanish into thin air. Smoker had wanted to keep the cafe open in case Hawkins showed up there, but you couldn't work with your broken arm, and Vivi couldn't run the place on her own.
Your dad didn't restrict you and Ace to only staying at the hotel and going to school, he allowed you time to hangout with friends as long as you told him where you were going. Currently you and Ace were sat next to each other in a booth at the diner. Zoro was sitting on the other side of Ace and across from you three was Sabo, Luffy, and Nami. Sat at a table across the diner was two cops, keeping an eye on you and Ace.
"I thought Hawkins was a nice guy, a little weird, but nice." Zoro sighed.
"Same here. He didn't talk much, but he was helpful at work." You sipped at your milkshake. You didn't mind when Luffy reached across the table took a handful of your fries.
"I mean after you pointed out his writing didn't match your letters and Zoro said he was at his kendo class, I was ready to cross him of my suspect list. But now he's suddenly gone once the cops started looking for him, it's like he has 'I did it' stamped on his forehead." Sabo slouched back into the booth. He looked tired, your guess was he's been staying up trying to do his own investigation on this case despite Smoker telling him not to.
"Hopefully the cops catch him soon." Nami nodded.
"How's staying with Robin and Franky going?" You asked your orange haired friend. It was a clear subject change, but you liked not thinking about your stalker twenty-four seeven.
"Good, well I wish I was in my own bed instead of a pull-out couch, but it's nice and safe. Although, Robin does sleep walk, it scared me shitless the first night." Nami chuckled.
"I didn't know she did that. She's never slept walked at any of the sleepovers we've had." You quickly reached out and caught Ace's head before he could faceplant into his plate. Sabo snickered and stole some food off his sleeping brother's plate.
"She doesn't do it often, just when she's stressed, she has a big exam coming up." Nami explained, she looked down at her phone, checking the time. "I have to go, I have a study group. I'll see you guys later."
Nami set some money on the table before getting up and leaving. Ace woke up, mumbling something about a late assignment.
"Did you forget to do your homework or something?" You asked. You and Ace, more so Ace, often forgot to do any homework you got while at the hotel. You two seem to have forgotten that you weren't on vacation.
"Nah, just handed something in late and my teacher chewed me out for it." Ace replied, he looked down at his plate, noticing that most of the food was gone. He looked across the table at his two brothers. "Which one of you took my food?"
Sabo pointed at Luffy, while Luffy pointed at Sabo. You giggled at the two and pushed your plate towards your freckled boyfriend. "Here you can have the rest of mine."
Ace looked down at your plate than back at you. Your boyfriend ate a lot and wasn't one to share his food, unless it was with you, he also didn't like taking food from you all that much. He knew he ate a lot, so he liked to make sure you were full before taking anything off your plate. "You sure?"
"Yep. I'm full, I don't eat as much as you." You smiled at him.
"Thanks. I'm still gonna find out which one of you took my food." Ace gave his brothers a pointed look.
"This place doesn't serve any alcohol?" Zoro sighed as he flipped through the menu again.
"You drink so much." Luffy chuckled at his friend.
"I'm surprised you don't have liver failure yet." Sabo teased.
"I don't drink that much." Zoro huffed.
"You drink everyday. Although my dad and Shanks drink everyday too, and they're both still in perfect health." You nodded. It honestly surprised you how much your dad and uncle drank and were still able to function like normal people.
"See, I'll be fine." Zoro confidently crossed his arms over his chest.
You five spent some more time at the diner, the three brothers ordering more food, while you all chatted. You had to convince Sabo not to go back down to the tunnels under the school, the blond was convinced that Hawkins was hiding down there somewhere and the cops just haven't found him yet. That's what you were worried about, if the cops couldn't find Hawkins down there, than he probably knew the best places to hide down there. You didn't want Sabo going down there and have Hawkins sneak up on him, plus if the cops found Sabo down there he'd be in big trouble.
"Listen to (Y/N). I know you have the best intentions, but imagine how distraught Pops would be if you got hurt." Ace pointed out. It seemed to be the only thing that needed to be said to convince the blond not to go back in the tunnels.
"Heh, your right." Sabo agreed. Your dad threatened to sue the police when he felt they weren't doing a proper job of keeping you safe during the investigation. Edward Newgate on the other hand would probably just beat up the police force if one of his boys got hurt, especially if Sabo were able to slip past them. He'd be both proud of his son, and think the police force was a bunch of idiots for letting a kid slip pass them.
"Sorry to cut this outing short. But Shanks is here." You were looking at the message your red haired uncle just sent you.
"We'll stay a little longer." Sabo looked over to Luffy who had just ordered more food.
"Zoro, do you want a ride back to campus?" You offered.
"Nah, I'll just head back with these two. You guys stay safe." Zoro gave you a small smile.
"You guys too. We'll see you later." Ace held your hand as you both left the diner.
----
"That stupid Sabo! Telling the cops where I hide out. Oh, he'll be in for a suprise. I'll get him, I'll get all of them!" The man slammed his hand against the wall.
"Mhm, hrgg."
"Shut up, you two!" The man walked over to the two he had tied up on the floor, tape covering their mouths.
"I wish I didn't have to kill you. But you both were in the way of my happy future." The man chuckled, he caressed his fingers over the one victims cheek. "Don't worry though, you won't die today. It's not the right time yet. I need my love to see I got rid of both of you for her. It's just not the right time yet."
The man stood up, he turned off the lights before leaving the room, he made sure the door was locked behind him. He went down a long hallway and walked through another door, making sure it was locked behind him before he moved a bookshelf in front of it.
He reached over to a bag he kept in the corner of the room and pulled out his hotel uniform. He quickly changed, making sure his bow tie was straight before heading up a flight of stairs. He easily mingled into the rest of the work staff, like he'd been doing so for the past few days.
"Those stupid oafs think they can hide you from me. But don't worry my love, we'll be together soon enough."
