Your last class of the day was packed and not just because of the regular students that took the class. Some of the students that were a few years ahead, were experimenting with music for the projects they were working on. The teacher had allowed them to ask music students for help on the project.
You had seen Apoo amongst the music students, he had come in and beelined straight towards a girl, he had given her the sloppiest kiss you've ever seen on the cheek before helping her with her project.
You were sat at your own desk, working on learning simple movements for characters. So far, you were able to make the stick figure on your screen walk and run, when you tried to do jumping you kept getting a notification saying the code was entered wrong. You were also waiting to speak with your teacher, you had handed in your first character design a few days ago. The teacher was going through the students, giving them critique on their characters.
You looked away from your computer when a shadow was casted over you. Hawkins was standing next to your desk.
"Hello (Y/N)." Hawkins stared down at you.
"Hi, what are you doing here?" As far as you knew, he wasn't in this class. Your eyes being drawn to the bandages wrapped around his forearm. "What happened to you?"
"Just a dog bite. Nothing to worry about."
What?
"Oh, uh, you gotta be careful with some dogs." You mumbled, you could feel a bead of sweat rolling down your forehead.
Stay calm, (Y/N). Don't let him know you're on to him.
"Yes, I learned my lesson. Anyways, this is for you." Hawkins reached into his pants pocket and pulled out what looked like a star made out of small animal bones and string.
"Wh-what is it?" You took the animal bone star from him as he basically thrusted it into your hand.
"A protective charm. You need it, the cards told me your future is looking grim." Hawkins explained.
This is a protective charm? Wait, my future?
"Well, thank you." You gave him a forced smile, he just nodded but didn't make any move to leave. You looked down at the charm than put it in your backpack. This seemed to satisfy Hawkins, he didn't say anything as he left.
That whole interaction left you feeling nervous and scared. You had told yourself that it seemed to be too obvious for Hawkins to be your stalker, his writing didn't match the letters, and he had an alibi for the time you met the first victim. But now he had a dog bite on his arm, after you and Ace had been at the wolf sanctuary earlier this morning.
You were glad Ace's classes were back to normal, you'd leave with the other students once class was done, and find your boyfriend arriving to the building as soon as you stepped out. If he was a little late than officer Brent was outside the building, you didn't like him much, but you would stand with him as you waited for Ace.
"Miss. (Y/N), we can discuss your character design now." The teacher called you from their desk.
----
You did not leave class with the other students. You were the last student to talk with your teacher and they went on forever about your character. It wasn't anything bad, they really liked the character you made, and kept talking about your use of colour and line art.It wasn't until the classroom was empty that the teacher noticed they kept you for to long. You went over to your desk, logging out of the computer and grabbing your backpack.
"Bye, Mr.-" You paused noticing the teacher was already gone. You grabbed your phone and texted Ace.
(Y/N): sorry to keep you waiting my teacher took their sweet time talking to me. I'm heading out now.
Ace: it's fine. I'm actually not at your building yet my classmates held me back to talk about a project. Just go stand with that officer. I'll be there soon.
You turned off the classroom lights before stepping out, you walked down the hallway towards the elevator. When you got there, you were met with an out of order sign. You sighed and looked towards the stairwell, your classroom was on the third floor, it wouldn't be a bad walk down. The elevator had a camera in though, whereas the stairs didn't.
You decided to call the number Smoker had given you for officer Brent and see if he would be kind enough to come up here and walk you down the stairs. Much to your dismay, officer Brent didn't pick up.
You looked back down the hallway, trying to see if any of the classroom lights were still on. You could wait with a teacher until Ace got here, but all the class lights were off.
The light at the end of the hall turned off, than the next one after that, the hallway was slowly getting darker. You glanced over to the stairwell, it's lights were still on. You were hesitant, you could go down the stairwell were your stalker could be waiting for you or stay in the unlit hallway where your stalker could be lurking.
"Fuck it." You went over to the stairwell and opened the door, you stepped pass the door ready to head downstairs. You stopped when you saw blood covering the floor. You slowly looked up, nearly barfing as you saw the body hanging there. There was barb wire wrapped around their neck, the other end wrapped around the railing above them.
The skin on their face was peeled back, revealing the raw muscle and tissue underneath. Nails sticking out of their eyes and cheeks, they were cut open from chest to stomach, their guts spilling out. You almost thought it was the guy from the cafe, but this person was taller. Your eyes widend when you saw the name tag stabbed into their chest, 'Brent' printed across it.
You turned to open the door behind you, but it wouldn't budge. "No, no, no."
You went to go upstairs, hoping that a teacher was still there, but you heard the door above you slam shut. You pulled out your phone, trying to find Ace's name to call him, but your hands were trembling so much that you couldn't see the screen properly. Than you heard the door above you creak open.
All fear about walking under a dead body were pushed to the back of your mind as you quickly ducked under it. In your haste to leave, you slipped in the blood and went tumbling down the stairs.
----
Ace walked towards the building your classes were held in, expecting to see you standing out side with the cop that's been following around. Instead he didn't find you standing there, neither was the cop. He pulled out his phone when he felt it vibrate in his pocket.(Y/N): aVdji=aHhk
Ace felt worrying settling into the pit of his stomach as looked over your incoherent text message. He ran into the building. "Out of order?"
Ace turned towards the stairwell, practically racing up the stairs. Going up three flights of stairs was nothing to him, but he stopped when he found you lying at the bottom of the third flight of stairs, unconscious. Your arm bent at an awkward angle and blood spilling out from a gash on your head.
"No. (Y/N), please be okay." Ace gently scooped you up in his arms, a pained whimper leaving you. "I'm here. You'll be okay."
"De-dea..."
"Don't talk. I'm calling for help." Ace pulled his phone out, quickly dialing 911.
"Dead." You whimpered out.
"You're not dead, everything will be fine." Ace felt tears running down his face as he cradled you in his arms. A frustrated sigh leaving his lips when he heard the automated message on the other side of his phone, 911 was currently experiencing a high volume of calls and Ace was put on hold. He quickly hung up and called Smoker.
"Detective Smoker, how can I help?"
"It's me Ace. (Y/N) is hurt."
"Where are you guys?" Smoker asked.
"We're in the stairwell of the art building. Hurry up, she's barely conscious and 911 put me on hold." Ace quickly blurted.
"Dead cop." You mumbled.
"What did she say?" Smoker could barely hear you through the phone.
"She said dead cop, but I don't-" Ace looked around, his eyes finally landing on the body hanging at the top of the stairs.
"What is it?"
"There's a dead guy." Ace replied.
