Charles stomped through the snow, agitated. The toppats had gotten away AGAIN.
He had been SO close... but the stupid orbital station beamed them up at the last second. This wasn't gonna be fun to explain to the general.
He trudges through the snow, to the nearby pub he'd seen on the way here. Maybe a shot or two of vodka would make him feel better.
Normally he wasn't one to drink, but he really needed a good cooldown after that.Lucky for him, it was "get your first one free" night.
In the pub, he had sat down after ordering his drink, watching the news on the pub tv.It was talking about the stupid Toppat orbital station again.
He sighs sadly.
Things just hadn't been the same since finding out that Henry died...Ever since the airship mission, he and Henry had grown closer, becoming good friends, and possibly even a little bit more...?
Although that was probably just Charles' wishful thinking...He and Henry had done a few more missions together since then, and they were a lot of fun!
But then one day, Henry just... disappeared.
He stopped responding to calls, texts, everything, and the government wasn't able to get in contact with him.
Then came the day where they had received the news.
Turns out, Henry had been captured by the wall, a notorious high security prison located in Serbia, famous for housing some of the most dangerous criminals alive, and being 100% inescapable.
Or at least 99% inescapable, as Henry so kindly demonstrated when he managed to bust out by stealing one of their trucks.
Unfortunately, the truck had crashed and fallen off a cliff, and Henry wasn't able to make it out in time.
He was gone.
Charles couldn't remember a night he'd cried so much.
So since then, he hadn't been on his top game.
He sighs as he sips his drink, idly watching the tv.
Suddenly, the door opens. Charles looks over.
There was a man wearing a purple hood, a black facemask, and some weird looking goggles.
He takes a seat at the bar next to Charles.Charles gives him a weird look, then goes back to sipping his vodka.
The bartender looks at him. "Well hello again, Mr mysterious vagabond. You want your usual?"
The guy, apparently called the mysterious vagabond, nodded.
The bartender nods back, going to fix his drink.
Charles looked at the mystery man.
"Aren't you gonna take your mask off?" he asks. The vagabond shakes his head.
Charles shrugs. "Suit yourself.."
The vagabond then receives his drink, nodding at the bartender. Charles noticed that it was a shot of hard liquor.
"Liquor, huh? Had a rough night?" he asks.
The vagabond nods sadly.
Charles sighs. "I know how ya feel..."
The vagabond gets a napkin, pulling a pen out of his pocket and writing something on the napkin. He showed Charles, it said 'What happened to you?'
Charles sighs.
"Well...if you must know... my friend died recently..."The vagabond covers his mouth, writing 'I'm so sorry' on the napkin.
Charles smiles a bit. "It's okay... it was an accident..." he sighs. "I just... miss him a whole lot."
He looks away, then back to the vagabond.
"Listen... you mind if I vent for a second?" he asked. The vagabond shook his head, patting Charles's shoulder.
Charles smiled. "Thanks."
He then looks away. "My friend... his name was Henry. I just feel like... there's been this void in my life ever since he died. And it's good that he's 'in a better place' or whatever..."
He looks at his hands. "But it's like... my stupid heart won't get the memo. Like yeah, I get it! My heart decides to hurt and feel good at the same time when I think about him! Just stop being so weird!"
He sighs and puts his hands down. "God... I miss him so much..." he tears up. "It was a little scary to admit... but I really was in love with him." he cries. "He was my best friend... and I wish that I could have told him how I felt..."
He gets a napkin. "But I can't... because he's DEAD." he says, wiping his tears.
Once he stopped crying, he looked at the man sitting beside him. "Anyways... What do you think, Mr. Mysterious vagabond guy?"
The vagabond was frozen, seemingly stunned by Charles's story.
Then suddenly, he takes off his hood and mask to reveal his face.
IT WAS HENRY.
And he was blushing like a schoolgirl.
Charles, too, was a tomato.
"S-so yeah, finding out that henry Jenkins the actor died really took a toll on me, y-ya feel?"
Charles tried to say, fanning himself with his hand.He didn't have time to say anything else before Henry took his face in his hands, kissing him firmly.
Charles's didn't think it was possible, but he somehow turned even redder.
Henry pulls back with a smile.
"I love you too." he whispers.Charles's eyes widened. "R-really?"
Henry nods.
Charles tears up again, squealing in joy and hugging him tightly. "Oh my god man! I thought you were dead!"
Henry smiles. "Well obviously I am not," he says.
Charles pulls back. "H-how did you survive that truck crash..?"
Henry smiles and gently wipes his tears.
"I didn't die when they pushed me off that cliff... I managed to get inside a small alcove and hide while they drove off.."Charles laughs. "Oh Henry, you're a genius!"
Henry smiled. "Haha, thanks."
He then looks down. "I would have called you, but I didn't have any money for a payphone..."Charles smiles. "It's okay... I'm just glad you're here!" he says, kissing Henry on the cheek. "God, I love you..."
Henry giggles and blushes. "Love ya too."
After the two finish their drinks, they walk out of the pub, holding hands.
"So, uh... do you think I could get a ride back with you?" Henry asks shyly.
Charles nods. "Of course! I parked the helicopter near here."
Henry hugs him. "Thank you Charles..."
Charles hugs back. "No problem." he says with a smile.
Pulling back a bit, Henry kisses him again.
"I love my bold action man."
