It was a peaceful summer evening, and Henry was sitting on his favorite cliffside near the base, watching the sun set.

'It's nice to have a break. Well.. mostly.' he thought to himself.
Relaxing was good, but eventually, they'd have to get back to work soon.

Henry sighs. He used to like going on missions, but nowadays, it was really tiring him out.

On their last mission, Charles and him had survived, but just barely.

They were on a mission to take down an underground crime ring known for stealing jewelry, and the mission was located in their headquarters.

They had gathered up all the stolen jewelry, and had planted explosives all over to blow the place sky high when they got out of there.

But then things went wrong when they were escaping.

They were like, maybe three feet from the exit when one of the muscly guys came out of nowhere and grabbed Charles by the ankle, saying if the gang was goin down, they were taking them with them.

Thankfully, Charles had managed to stomp the guy off of him and get out of there just before the place exploded. Henry and him survived, destroyed the criminals, and got back all the stolen jewelry, planning to return it all to the owners. (Well, return at least 99.99% of it anyway.)

When they got back to base, they were rewarded with merits, a bit of fame, and some time off since they worked so hard.

But the whole thing got Henry having an existential crisis.

Sure, he and Charles had both survived this time, and everything went back to semi-normal, but what if they hadn't? What if they had died?

Even worse, what if only Charles had died... and Henry had to carry on without him?

Henry shakes his head. He couldn't bear the thought.

He loved Charles too much to just lose him suddenly. Or at least lose him without putting up a real good fight. He and Charles were soulmates. They were meant to be together.

Heck, Henry was even planning to ask Charles to tie the knot with him.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the ring he had, ahem, 'borrowed' from the criminal stash. I mean, nobody would notice if just ONE piece of jewelry went missing, right?

It was a very pretty silver ring, with a pear-cut emerald that was the exact same color as Charles's eyes.

Henry smiles, thinking of those pretty eyes. He loves looking into them, and seeing happiness and love within them. But he hates seeing fear or sadness in them, he thinks, frowning.

He then thinks back to the mission.
Henry had almost seen the light leave those gorgeous eyes.

He shudders, shaking his head to get the thought away, then looks at the ring again. "Oh Charles..." he whispers to himself.

"Hey! There you are!"

Charles' upbeat voice suddenly came from behind him.

Henry flinches, quickly putting the ring in his pocket.

He then stands up, looking at him.
"Heya." he says with a smile.

"I was looking for you.'' Charles says, walking up beside him "It's almost time for dinner."

Henry smiled. "I was watching the sunset." he looks over the cliffside. "Isn't it pretty?"

Charles looks out, smiling. "Yeah...."
He gently slips his hand into henrys.
