Quinns POV
I walk across the football field, cold wind biting at me through my sweater. I mentally push aside the numerous thoughts that race through my mind. I think about everything that's happened in this past year. It's been a hell of a ride.
Even as I walk, I'm not quite sure why I'm here. There is not a bone in my body that knows what ik going to say, I just know I have to say it.
I see him laying down on a bleacher without a shirt on. Immediately, a wave of butterflies fill my stomach. I take a deep breath and tuck a piece of long hair behind my ear.
His eyes are closed, ear bud in. The music is loud, loud enough for me to hear it from here. With a shaky hand, I reach forward and gently tuck at the wire until a bud falls, clicking as it hits the cold metal.
Cameron pops and eye open, immediately sitting up when he sees it's me. He yanks out his other earbud. "Quinn..."
I close my eyes, allowing my self one last shaky breath before I speak. "Taylor dumped me. Something about spending more time with his friends. But do you want to know the funny thing, Cam?" I let out a humorless laugh. "I'm not even upset. The only thing I felt when he ended things was how I could finally admit my real feelings. Sure, I love Tay. I always have, and I think a part of me always will. But I've also always had this.. this nagging at the back of my mind. A voice inside my head that kept yelling at me. I never let myself listen, though. I just went along with how it was. But this was my wake up call. It pulled me out of whatever I was sinking in. I finally realized that the thing I wanted most in my life was right in front of me the entire time. I knew it when we first met, I just never admitted it." I breathe. "Cameron, I love you. I am hopelessly, deeply in love with you. Ever since we met, every little thing you did make me fall deeper and deeper. I was a fool for not realizing it before. I just hope I didn't push you away so much that you got to the point where you don't feel the same."
Camerons face is a bunch of emotions. They say a person eyes are the key to their soul, and I finally get what they mean. You can see love, lust, hate, anger, sorrow. You just have to know how to look.
Cameron stands up, taking my hand. He places his hands on my waist, his forehead on mine. When he speaks, his voice is husky. "Quinn, I don't think there was ever a moment when I didn't feel that way about you. You are my heart. You code how I feel, not me. I am unconditionally in love with every single part of you, just like Taylor was. But I will promise you now, I'm not him. I won't make the same mistakes he did. Once your mine, I'm not letting you go..."
I bite my lip and lose myself in his eyes. I always thought they were a simple brown, but there are elegant flecks of gold scattered throughout his iris. It only makes me want him more. My eyes flit down to his lips, just for a second, but it's enough to make him crazy. His hands move up to my face, his lips colliding with mine. With every movement, I feel a current spread through my body. It's like electricity, with each touch, there's a spark, leading to the fire.
And this, I realize, this is it. My match is lit, and the fire will burn forever.
