Chapter 39
The same day, 3:42 pm
In the bunker
Dean's POV
Dean: Katie, I'm not gonna tell you again. Drop the attitude.
Katie: Uncle Bean-
Dean: No. It's your own fault that you got grounded. I'm not gonna talk your Dad out of a grounding that you brought on yourself. Maybe if he was being unreasonable, I'd try to talk to him about it. But he's not being unreasonable. You did something that you knew he wouldn't be ok with, and you got in trouble for it.
Katie: But being grounded is boring. I wanna do stuff.
Dean: Then don't get yourself grounded. You'd be able to do whatever you wanted, if you'd stop doing bad things.
Katie: You're supposed to be on my side.
Dean: I can't side with you, on doing bad shit behind your Dad's back.
She's giving me a look of betrayal, and now I feel bad. I wanna side with her on this, but I can't. She knew that dying her hair behind Sam's back was wrong, but she did it anyway. I'd side with her, if she didn't know that what she did was wrong. If she was confused, and didn't understand how it was wrong, I'd side with her and talk to Sam about ungrounding her. But Katie understands what she did wrong. So I can't be on her side with this.
Dean: Don't look at me like that. I'm not the one doing things behind my Dad's back. If you're bored, go read a book or something.
Katie: I don't wanna read. It's the weekend. Nobody wants to read on the weekend.
Dean: Have you met your father?
She rolls her eyes and leaves the room.
Dean: Katelyn Grace, come back here, please.
Katie: No.
She might be upset, but she's not gonna take it out on me. I leave my room and walk out into the hall. I see Katie walk into her room and slam the door. Was that really necessary? I walk to her door and knock, but get no response. Great. Now she's not gonna talk to me. I pissed her off.
Dean: Katie, open this door.
Katie: No.
Dean: I'm not in the mood to play this game today, Kid.
Katie: And I'm not in the mood to be told what to do. So I guess we're both not happy.
Dean: Katie-
Katie: I'm not opening the door. And you're not, either, because I locked it.
I kick the door in, and now I'm looking at Katie, who looks shocked. I don't know why she didn't see this coming.
Dean: I'm not playing this game of yours, today. You're not gonna be disrespectful, then slam doors, and be mad that you're in trouble. That's not how this works. I don't know why you act like this, every time your Dad's leaves, but it ends now. You're not gonna act this way, every time your Dad goes on a supply run. Or maybe you will. But you're gonna be getting spanked, every time you choose to act like this.
