Chapter 50

In the bunker

Katie's POV

Uncle Dean: Don't you have something better to be doing?

Katie: No. That's why I'm in here, bugging you. I don't have anything better to be doing.

Uncle Dean: Why don't you go do the dishes? That's something to do.

I hate it when they do that. When I say that I have nothing better to do or that I'm bored, Dad and Uncle Dean always come up with a random chore for me to do. I said that I didn't have anything better to do, not that I'm bored enough to wanna do the dishes. I'm desperate for something to do, but not THAT desperate.

Katie: Do I have to?

Uncle Dean: Yeah. You've been avoiding doing the dishes for almost 2 weeks, and we've been doing them instead. You can't avoid dishes for rest of your life. We're not just gonna come in and do them for you, every time you decide that you don't wanna do them.

Katie: What if I'm sick?

Uncle Dean: You're not sick right now, are you?

I try to fake cough, but Uncle Dean's not buying it.

Uncle Dean: Nice try. Go do the dishes, and then I'll do something with you. We can play that video game you like.

Katie: I can't. I'm grounded.

Uncle Dean: Your Dad doesn't have to know. We'll play for a little while, and then we'll turn it off.

Katie: Ok.

I leave his room and go to the kitchen, where I guess I'll do the dishes. I don't want to, but Uncle Dean's gonna complain if I don't. And I'm not if the mood to hear complaining. I get started on the dishes, and eventually get distracted and leave the sink. At least I remembered to turn the water off. Now I'm trying to get a honey bun, because I'm hungry and I want a honey bun.

Uncle Dean: I thought I told you to do the dishes. He says as he walks in to the kitchen.

Katie: I started on them, but then I got hungry, and now I want a honey bun.

Uncle Dean: You just ate. You're already hungry again?

Katie: Fine. I just want a snack. I can't do the dishes without a snack.

Uncle Dean: Why not?

Katie: Because.

Uncle Dean: Because why?

Katie: I just want a honey bun. Then I'll finish the dishes.

Uncle Dean: Or He steps in front of me, blocking me from getting a honey bun you can finish the dishes, then you can have a honey bun.
