"Don't touch me!."
Felix had run up to his boyfriend before being harshly shoved. He lost his balance and fell, peoples attention now being shifted to the two in the hallway.
"W-What are you doing?" Felix said feeling tears burn at his once bright eyes.
"Stop trying to do gay shit with me its fucking gross." He said without an ounce of sympathy. The last four months have been a lie. There cute dates, sneaking around, words of reassurance, thrown out the window in front of bystanders.
"This doesn't make any sense. You said you loved me. You said you wouldn't leave me like the rest." Felix let the tears fall as he shakily stood up trying not to break down completely.
"That was obviously a joke. Why would someone like me seriously be with you. Ur just a sissy boy that was fun to play with. I'm bored now so fuck off." With that he turned a joined his friends that were waiting up for him, laughing at the boy who was sobbing.
Felix felt embarrassed. Betrayed. It happened again. Someone left him. Another person ripped away from him in the worst way possible. He was lied to. Played for a fool.
Felix didn't even say anything in return. He ran away through the school doors and back to the home his parents left he and his sister behind. He didn't care that he wad cutting class, maybe it was the running but his throat felt as though it was closing up slowly. Tears uncontrollably fell from his eyes. He needed relief and fast.
Felt wandered upstairs to the bathroom, looking through the cupboards in search of a blade. Maybe pain could relief him him from these overwhelming emotions. And sure enough once he slid the blade across his arm, his breathing hitched and calmed. His attention was set on the dark crimson liquid flowing down his arm. It was a beautiful shade of red. Felix let out an empty chuckle, surprised at what he had just done. That laugh was the last noise he had made in four whole years.
That incident happened back in the eighth grade. Felix is now a senior in high school. He moved away from the old town he had been outed to start a new life with his sister. Being in their parents home wasn't helping either of them grow so they moved into a two bedroom apartment. Rachel and Felix's parents had died in a car accident a year before Felix went mute. It wasn't easy for any of them, especially Felix.
Felix doesn't exactly know how he went mute. When he had cut himself those years ago he had tried to speak with his sister for comfort but no words would come out. His mind and body just wouldn't let him speak. He has a voice but its been locked away deep inside.
To accommodate for the lack of speech Felix had spent two years becoming fluent in sign language. The only problem is rarely anybody knows it. His sister of course learned it along side him so she would be able to talk with her brother. But she was worried. Felix has nobody besides her. What was he going to do when she gets married? Hangs out with friends? Was Felix just going to be alone forever?
Rachel and Felix sat eating dinner silently as they usually did. She took a deep breath before sliding a business card in front of Felix making him tilt his head in curiosity.
Speech Therapy
Christopher Bang
xxx-xxx-xxxx"Speech therapy?" Felix signed at his sister. Rachel put her fork down and took a deep breathe trying hard not to let any tears escape her eyes. This would be the fifth time she's tried to get Felix to go to speech therapy.
"Please...Felix. I miss your voice, your smile, your laugh, your company. You're always cooped up in your room. And don't think I don't know about your cutting! I just want my baby brother to get better." She practically pleaded.
Felix clutched his right arm not even flinching at the pain of the new wound he had inflicted the night before. He bit his bottom lip, he too trying to hold back his tears. The idea of talking scared him so bad. He would probably end up saying something to scare his own therapist away. He doesn't even know what his voice sounded like! What if his vocal cords ripped?
"I'm sorry." Felix signed before getting up and escaping to his room. He could hear his sisters muffled sobs ringing in his ears. It was just about time she left him too right? Before she hated him, kicked him out. Felix couldn't handle these dark thoughts. He rushed into the bathroom and hurriedly searched for his blade. He dragged it along his forearm, feeling the words leave his mind through the blood leaking from his arm.
After a bit Felix ran it over water, wincing a bit at the pain and wrapped it up. He really didn't want to lose his sister. And if this would make her stay, he would have to go to speech therapy.
