Cyra Smith POV
Kian: Cyra, I know you know where my wife is. I need to talk to her. Please, can you tell me where she is? I plead with you.
We're now at the airport. Yusei is with me, along with Sorin. We're seeing off Asteria. She's leaving now, and I'm hopeful for better days ahead for her. I pray she finds happiness there and leaves her pains behind.
Me: What's Kian for if not this? Give me a good reason, and I might tell you.
My girlfriend placed a hand on Asteria's shoulder.
"Come back for our wedding," she urged, despite their usual banter, they're still close. My friend smiled bitterly.
"I'm not sure if I'll be able to," she replied sadly, and I felt a pang of sadness too.
"Take care of yourself there, Asteria," Sorin added, sadness evident in her eyes. They've become close, and she looked at me before embracing Asteria.
"I'm leaving," she bid farewell and turned away. Her flight to Korea is boarding. I even joked with her about getting an autograph from a Kpop idol, earning a soft laugh and a playful hit.
Kian: Kate isn't actually pregnant. I found out today, and I need to tell Asteria the truth.
My anger surged at the revelation. I swiftly turned to Cyra.
Me: Hurry up and come to the airport. She's about to leave. My girlfriend looked at me.
"Why do you look so pale?" she asked. I met her gaze and replied,
"Kate isn't really pregnant," I confessed. She reacted quickly.
"Then we need to catch up with Asteria," she declared, pulling me along. I wasn't sure if her older sister followed us, but we needed to reach my friend. She deserves to know the truth, and perhaps her decision will change. It's also better for the child to have both parents present.
Kian Calen Levington POV
When I received Cyra's message, I rushed into my car, hands trembling as I drove. Did I mention she planned to leave again? She's going to run away from me once more, leaving me alone. I can't allow it. I need her. I need them for my family. They're my life, my inspiration. Without them, I don't know what I'd do. I must be going insane. As I entered, my eyes darted around, searching for Cyra. When I approached them, I immediately asked, "Where is she?" My eyes scanned the area, feeling exhausted.
"Asteria is gone," Yusei answered sadly. My frown deepened. "What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"The plane she was on has already departed," Sorin explained. If she hadn't spoken, I wouldn't have realized she was here.
"Where is she headed? I'll follow her," tears welled up in my eyes. If that's what it takes to be with her again, I'll do it. Cyra approached me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Her flight was to Korea. I hope you can catch up with her there," she assured me. I frowned. Where in Korea? Which city? As far as I know, they have properties in the United States, and Asteria isn't familiar with South Korea.
Two years later...
I've become elusive, cold, and rude. Only Lilian can tolerate speaking to me. I've searched every corner of Korea but haven't found her. It's hard to find someone who doesn't want to be found.
"Big sis, maybe you're making yourself sick," my sister said one late night, finding me still engrossed in my laptop.
"Leave me alone, Aeris," I snapped. She furrowed her brow.
"Do you think Asteria will still love you when she sees you again? You're neglecting yourself," she said angrily. I stared at her, causing her to quickly avert her gaze.
"Even if she doesn't, I'll still take her back. We're still married, and that won't change," I muttered, the longest sentence I've uttered in two years. I've lost myself, consumed by the memories of the past.
"But sister, I hope you won't neglect yourself. What if you get sick? What if she returns, and you're the one who's gone?" Her words struck a chord, and I reluctantly nodded.
"Yeah," I conceded before pushing her away. Afterward, I returned home to our old house. It's dark and lifeless now, a stark contrast to its once vibrant atmosphere. I gazed at our wedding photo.
"Come back, please," I pleaded, reaching for the bottle of wine I brought. As I drank, I hurled the bottle, the shattered glass cutting into my skin.
"It's just the pain of you leaving me, Asteria!" I cried out, grabbing the broken shards and squeezing them, welcoming the physical pain over the agony in my heart. I yearned to see our son, to hold them both close.
"When I find you, I won't let you leave me again," I whispered before falling asleep, tears staining my cheeks and hands still stained with blood. My heart bleeds, shattered beyond repair, longing for the woman it beats for.
