Asteria Celeste Averix Levington POV
After that long flight, we finally arrived at my parents' house. We took a taxi since I didn't want to bother them with picking us up.
"Is this our grandson?" my mom asked excitedly as she approached Zyrone. She hugged and kissed him on the cheek, visibly thrilled. I nodded happily.
"Yes," I replied, walking toward her.
My dad joined us, and we all hugged. He smiled, looking emotional. "Our grandchild is so big," he said, his eyes welling up. Zyrone giggled at his grandparents' reactions and turned to me.
"Mommy, are they my grandfather and grandmother?" he asked.
I quickly nodded. "Yes, baby. Now bless them and kiss them too," I instructed. He promptly reached up to kiss their cheeks.
We went inside, and I noticed they had prepared a feast for our arrival. Some dishes were my favorites, while others were Zyrone's.
"Where do you plan to live, daughter?" my mom asked as we ate. I swallowed and took a sip of water.
"I already found a condo unit for the two of us. I settled everything before we got back," I replied. My son turned to me, puzzled.
"Aren't we going to live here?" he asked.
I shook my head. "No, baby. We have our own place. But we can always visit," I reassured him. His face lit up with happiness.
"Really? Yay, we have a house and we can always visit here," he clapped his hands and resumed eating.
I glanced at my parents, who were delighted by his reaction. My sister Lucian wasn't there. I knew she no longer lived with our parents and was probably busy with her own life.
"After this, we might leave. I still need to take care of our new place," I said.
They nodded, and we continued our conversation. They were visibly happy to see me and meet their grandson. Zyrone truly is a ray of sunshine.
We rested for a while after eating, then said our goodbyes.
"Bye. See you again," Zyrone said cheerfully, kissing his grandparents on the cheeks. I hugged them and said goodbye. They gave me something, but I assured them they didn’t need to worry about us.
We took a taxi to the condo. My car was still at Kiann's house, and I wasn't sure if I could still drive since it had been so long. In the States, I was busier with work and taking care of my son, so I didn't drive much.
When we reached our condo, Zyrone immediately fell asleep on the sofa, still jet-lagged. I carried him to the bedroom and watched him for a while. Then, I took out my phone and sent a message to my friend Cyra. I had bought a SIM card at the airport and got her number from my parents.
"Hi, Cyra! I miss you. This is Asteria. Please save my new number," I wrote and sent the message. Then I lay down next to my son, who was fast asleep. He looked so handsome and peaceful.
Soon, my phone rang. It was a reply from Cyra: "Is that really you? If it is, visit us, girl. I miss you so much."
I smiled and replied, "You should visit us. I’m not very familiar with the places anymore. I promise." It was partly true; I was also just too lazy to travel.
"Go ahead. Just send me your address," she replied.
"SV condo unit, Number 121," I answered. She didn’t reply immediately, so I put my phone down. Instead of napping, I decided to take a shower. I took some clothes out of the suitcase.
After that, I found Zyrone rubbing his eyes, just waking up.
"I love you, Mommy," he said, kissing my cheeks.
"Take a bath first," I said, carrying him to the bathroom. After his bath, I dressed him in comfortable clothes.
We went to the kitchen to make cookies, a bonding activity for us and something for Cyra to enjoy when she arrived. I had brought the baking ingredients with me, not wanting them to spoil.
As the cookies baked, the buzzer went off. It must be my friend. I turned to Zyrone. "Can you open the door?" I asked softly.
He nodded quickly, taking off his plastic gloves. "Yes," he said, running to the door.
"Mommy, we have visitors," my son called from the living room.
"Let them sit first, baby," I said from the kitchen, still waiting for the cookies to be done.
"Take a seat," he said politely. When the cookies were finished, I transferred them to a plate and prepared some juice. I went out with the food and drinks and found Cyra and Yusei with a little girl who resembled them.
My friend stood up quickly. "Welcome back, bestie," she exclaimed, hugging me as I set the things on the table.
"Welcome back," Yusei said, smiling.
"Zyrone, bless your Aunt and Uncle," I instructed. He complied.
"By the way, bestie, this is our daughter. Her name is Arianna," Cyra introduced her. Arianna smiled at me. She was adorable and beautiful. I was taken aback when Zyrone stood next to her.
"Mommy, do you think we are a good match?" he asked. My son was still young but already making such remarks. We all laughed at his antics.
"Zyrone is so cute," Cyra said, pinching his cheek. Then she turned to me seriously. "Whether you like it or not, we'll talk tomorrow," she said firmly. I nodded.
"Can I say no if you're that serious?" I replied. It seemed like we really needed to discuss something important.
"Just leave Zyrone at our house tomorrow. Yusei will watch over them so they and Arianna can play," she suggested. Yusei just watched us quietly. He wasn't as talkative as before, taking life more seriously now.
"Okay," I agreed and nodded. I wondered what she had to say and why it seemed so urgent. I felt nervous but more curious. I just hoped I wouldn’t regret finding out.
