Asteria Celeste Averix Levington POV
The days passed swiftly, and she remained determined in her efforts. I could sense her sincerity in wanting me back. I truly appreciated her persistence in trying to win me over.
Even though I hadn't admitted it to myself, I still deeply loved him. My feelings had only grown stronger. But was I truly ready to open my heart to love again? I knew that by doing so, I risked getting hurt once more. However, I pondered, what's the pain compared to the complete joy love can bring, right? Zyrone held my hand.
"Mommy, to Grandma's house again?" he asked as we sat in the car, Zyrone, Kian, and I. We seemed like a perfect family, even though things were not perfect. But I believed they could be fixed if I gave it a chance. The decision to create that type of family was up to me. I nodded.
"Yes, Baby. Just behave there, okay?" I promised him, smiling.
"Yes," he replied politely. The car stopped in front of the Levington's house. We got out, and I escorted Zyrone inside.
"Bye, Daddy, Mommy," our son waved as we left him there and returned to the car. Now it was just the two of us again.
"Are you going somewhere?" she asked gently, her eyes fixed on the road. I nodded.
"To the coffee shop. I need to check on things there," I replied. She nodded slowly.
"Do you have many male coworkers?" She suddenly inquired. I furrowed my brow but decided to answer.
"Huh? A few," I replied. I didn't elaborate further.
"Why do you ask?" Her questioning persisted as my former two colleagues had grown to three, and now there were five, two girls and three boys.
"Nothing," she simply replied, and I shrugged. It felt odd. Back at the coffee shop, I busied myself with setting up the tables.
"Hey," a voice interrupted, and I looked up to see a man standing there.
"Do I know you?" I asked, puzzled. He seemed unfamiliar to me.
"By the way, I'm Jiro Walton," he introduced himself and extended his hand, but I hesitated to shake it as I didn't recognize him.
"How do you know my name?" I questioned, puzzled as I hadn't mentioned it to him.
"Sources," he grinned and snapped his fingers, raising my curiosity.
"What do you want from me?" I inquired, surprised by his sudden appearance. He gestured to the chair, and I reluctantly sat down.
"Nothing. I just want to be close to you," he replied to my question.
"Why?" I probed.
"I like you," he stated directly, leaving me shocked and taken aback.
"No, you can't like me," I responded firmly.
"Hmm? And why is that?" he held my chin and gazed at me, waiting for an answer. I smiled slightly.
"I am already married," I stood up, and before leaving, I turned to him once more.
"By the way, my full name is Asteria Celeste Averix Levington," I informed him before walking away. Who was he? What did he want from me? Was he planning something? It was a headache-inducing thought. Sam even noticed my troubled expression and asked if I had a problem. I nodded, wanting to focus on work. I pushed thoughts of him out of my mind and continued with my tasks, baking cakes to enjoy. Time flew by, and before I knew it, the day had passed.
"Kian," I called out when I saw her.
"Get in," she said coldly, a stark contrast to her usual gentle demeanor. She opened the car door for me, and I climbed in. She got in as well but avoided looking at me.
"Is there a problem?" I couldn't help but ask, feeling uneasy. However, she remained silent, and I sat quietly, gazing out the window.
Why did I feel like I had done something wrong? We arrived home, and she still ignored me. Opening the car door for me, she helped me out, but that was the extent of her interaction. She didn't speak to me or even smile. I headed straight to our room.
Tired from work earlier, I took a shower first, and upon coming out, I found her lying on the bed. I stood beside her, unsure if I should address the situation. Before I could decide, she spoke.
"Who was the man you were talking to earlier?" she asked seriously, sounding irritated. I didn't like the accusatory tone.
"Huh?" I responded innocently, not understanding her question.
"You know who I'm talking about, Asteria," she persisted, and after a moment, I remembered Jiro.
"I don't know him," I replied.
"You don't know him, yet you were talking to him?" She laughed bitterly. I sighed and explained, "Fine. His name is Jiro Walton, but I don't know anything else about him." Did she doubt me?
"What does he want from you?" she frowned, pressing for answers. I didn't respond, feeling annoyed. Did she suspect me of having an affair with Jiro? I had never met him before, and it was my first time seeing him.
"Dammit. Answer, Asteria," she demanded, displaying a different demeanor than before.
"Are you doubting me?" I asked, my voice hoarse. Her expression softened, and she embraced me tightly, whispering in my ear.
"I'm sorry. I can't help but feel this way," she confessed softly.
"What?" I inquired gently.
"I'm so jealous," she finally admitted.
"I don't want any other man or woman in your life besides family. I want only me, Asteria. Only me, Wife!" She pulled back and stared intently, her eyes conveying her emotions. I swallowed and nodded.
"Just you," I replied weakly, feeling like that was what she needed to hear. She touched our foreheads and smiled sweetly, satisfied with my response.
"I'm the only one," she affirmed, and our lips met. I yielded, leaning into her as I appreciated her affection.
I tilted my head, intensifying our kiss.
"I love you so much, Asteria," she whispered between kisses. I didn't speak, just continuing to kiss her.
