Asteria Celeste Averix Levington POV
I am currently strolling alone in the mall with the intention of making a purchase. Prior to this, I visited my usual coffee shop. Unfortunately, I find myself without anyone to accompany me as all my potential companions are preoccupied with their own commitments.
Kian is engrossed in her work, while Zyrone is still attending school. I plan to pick him up later. I also reached out to Cyra, though I anticipated her response would be negative. It's understandable that both Yusei and Cyra are occupied. Additionally, I received news about Sorin, who has rekindled our friendship but is now residing in another country.
Upon spotting someone enjoying pizza, I felt compelled to head to Greenwich. The mere thought of its taste made my mouth water, and I savored every bite during my brief stay there. Afterward, I decided to continue exploring the mall in search of the item I intended to purchase.
While walking, I accidentally collided with an object, causing me to feel a sudden sense of unease as I sat on the floor, fearing a potential mishap.
"Sorry," the individual who bumped into me apologized, extending a hand to help me up. I accepted the gesture and allowed him to assist me in standing.
As I began to speak, I was interrupted when I recognized the person I had collided with. Her expression shifted from surprise to avoidance as she swiftly walked away. It was Kate Brillantes, a figure from the past who still holds a significant place in our lives, evoking the possibility of stirring up trouble once more.
Why does the past continue to haunt us in the present? I am content with my wife and our relationship. If complications arise again, I am uncertain of how to proceed. I must be losing my mind. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts.
"Don't be so paranoid," I whispered to myself. What if everything is fine now? I have no reason to fear. My wife loves me, and I have faith in our bond. We have faced numerous challenges together, and I trust her completely. With a renewed sense of assurance, I continued on my way towards my initial objective.
Later, when it was time to pick up Zyrone, I fetched him and drove him home. I even took the opportunity to show Kian how to operate the car, easing her concerns about my driving skills.
"How was your day, Baby?" I inquired as I navigated the road. He shared his day's events, including an amusing incident involving a classmate's admission of liking him. We shared a laugh over his predicament, and I reassured him about not dwelling on such matters at his age.
Upon returning home, I decided to prepare chicken curry for dinner. As I set the table, my wife entered the room and greeted me with a quick kiss.
"Wife," she addressed me, to which I responded with a faint smile before instructing her to change as she might work up a sweat. She complied and went upstairs, calling Zyrone along the way. I pondered over my current behavior and inner thoughts, still contemplating the encounter with Kate.
As we gathered for the meal, I called out from downstairs, prompting my wife and son to join me. Zyrone cheerfully sat down, eager to begin the meal. After a brief prayer, we started eating, with Kian expressing concern over my subdued demeanor. I ate slowly, feeling an unexplained lack of appetite but understanding the necessity of nourishment.
Later, in Kian's room after putting our son to bed, we lay side by side. I gazed at the ceiling while leaning on her chest, lost in my thoughts. She sensed my unease and shifted position, meeting my gaze with a concerned expression.
"Tell me the truth, wife. Are you truly okay?" she inquired with a mix of worry and seriousness. I assured her that I was fine, masking any underlying emotions. She scrutinized me closely, prompting me to move closer to her.
"You're not going to leave me again, are you?" I posed the question, to which she appeared puzzled by my inquiry.
"What do you mean?" she responded, seeking clarification. I evaded a direct answer, resorting to vague reassurances.
"I just wanted to ask. Can you promise?" I sought both comfort and reassurance in her embrace. She affirmed her commitment, reaffirming her love and dedication to our family.
"I love you, Kian. Please don't leave me," I expressed my vulnerability, seeking solace in her embrace. She responded with affection, reminding me of her unwavering love and dispelling any doubts I harbored.
"My wife, always so tender," she remarked with a hint of humor, reassuring me of her steadfast presence in our lives. I let go of my anxieties, choosing to trust in our bond and focus on the positive aspects of our relationship.
She was right. I needed to let go of my fears and uncertainties, embracing the trust and love that defined our union. With her by my side, I could envision a future filled with happiness and contentment.
