We are still sitting around the coffee table in Lyra's living room enjoying tea Sam has put out for us waiting for her to tell us her real story. I should be relieved that someone is also here from the Enchanted Lands but I need her full story. I was really excited that this woman was also from the Enchanted Lands.
"I can't believe I didn't see it before. You are from the Enchanted Lands. We have this feeling, like there's magic in the air." She says, staring at me fascinated.
"Really? I have never noticed that."
Lyra chuckles softly, "over time you will learn. Now how on earth did you find yourself here?"
"Now this I want to hear." Says Sam excitedly.
I told them everything, how I found my birth certificate leading me to the Lost worlds and along the way finding Amy, Alice, and Emmet to be my friends.
"Amy mentioned how you told stories about the same thing and I wondered if you had come from the Enchanted Lands too and if you know why my parents left me even though I am human. That is what led me here." I finished.
Lyra and Sam sat through all of it very quietly not saying a word.
"Wow, that is a very intriguing story. I would love to help anyway I can. I am so sorry you had to go through that. It must have been very hard for you to leave your family like that."
"Yes, it was very hard. But it was for the best." I say, a little sadly. I shake myself out of it and say, "Anyway, I want to hear your story. How did you end up here?"
"That is a very long and complicated story. All I will say is my husband and I wanted to have a nice quiet life for our daughter and son. We found a portal like my daughter did and came here. Back then portals were rare things. One would pop up connecting the Enchanted Lands to our world only when there is the most magic in that one place. It is really brilliant that they made it into a rock so that you can make one anywhere. Anyway, I was never really cut out for magic and we like it here." She finished.
"I never knew that you were from the Enchanted Lands. I mean like this is so cool! How come you never told me?" Amy asked.
"Oh, honey, I could never tell you. That would blow your mind. And what would your parents think if I led with, 'Hi there, I am from a fairy tale land you should totally be best friends with me.'"
"I guess it would be pretty weird."
"Trust me, there were some times where I wanted to tell you but I knew I couldn't. I'm just glad that you finally know."
"I am too." Amy says, smiling.
"Ummm, I wanted to ask where your daughter is now? And is she the girl from the story you were talking about?"
Lyra paled, her face turning into a frown. Did I say something wrong?
"She is actually in the Enchanted Lands right now."
"And she is the-"
"We don't need to get into that," Lrya's says, cutting Sam off.
Ok? I could tell there was still more to the story. But I am not going to pruy.
Lyra clapped her hands together, getting everyone's attention. "Well it's getting late. Sam can show you guys to your rooms and I can see if I can find anything about America Meyer and Chase Meyer. Until then good night and call me or Sam if you need anything." Lyra disappeared upstairs before I could protest.
"Umm, ya. She does that sometimes. Come on, follow me. I can show you your rooms." He says, starting up the stairs.
Amy catches up to Sam in front, blocking him from going any further. With Sam towering over her and Amy just a tiny little girl compared to Sam. "Sam, come on, there are four of us. You guys don't have enough room for us. We can leave and find a hotel." Amy turns to leave but Sam grabs her arm.
"Look how dark it is outside." We all looked out the window and saw it was really dark. No moon, no street lights, no one else's lights because there was no one else in sight. When I looked outside it was just infinite darkness going on forever, pulling me intointo nothing. Time must have passed really fast while we were here.
"Plus there are no hotels near here in like ten miles. You came up enough to know that."
Amy sighs, "I guess we can stay here for tonight."
We continue up the stairs, passing pictures of Lyra's family. I saw her daughter which I swear I have seen before. She had She looked like she was in her teen years in most of the pictures with her wavy brown hair like her mom and brown eyes with a darker skin color like a tan. Maybe I saw her in the Enchanted Lands. Lyra did say she was there now. But I could tell there was more to that. That is something I can figure out tomorrow. There was one picture in perticaler that stood out to me. Lyra, Sam, her daughter, and her husband were standing together with their arms around each other looking like they were having the time of their life's. The background was some kind of mountain. Maybe the mountains I saw coming here. Her daughter was wearing a necklace with a big red ruby in the middle of it and a metal rim with delicate flowers surrounding it. It was so beautiful and delicate. I also swear that I have seen this before. Like a person giving the same necklace to me in my little baby hands for me to hold. I was holding it like my life depended on it. I felt at that moment so important, so in awe that I was holding this important thing in my hands. Like a dream but not quite. Or could it just be my imagination. I don't know, I was too tired to figure it out now.
We rounded a corner into a spare bedroom. A window was in the back of the room with vintage curtains with little flowers sewn into them. Under the window was a big chair with cushions and an arm rest all the way around the chair. With flowers sewn into it. It looked like it was perfect for reading. I was definitely going to do that later. Beside the chair was a floor to ceiling brown book shelf that only took up half for the side of the room. With old, peeling covers that looked like it went back centuries to new, more modern books, like Percy Jackson. Pillows sewn with the same little flowers as the curtains were sitting on the big queen sized bed. A big fluffy blanket with flowers on it layed on the bed looking so comfy. On the bed side table there was a lap with flowers also sewn into the shade. Beside the lamp was a vase of flowers full of what looked like the flowers outside in the yard. It seemed this room had a very nice theme. The downstairs might not have looked like we were in a cottage but this room sure did look like it. And I loved it.
We were all staring wide eyed at the room. Well, except for Amy and Sam.
"There's another room across the hall that someone else could take and there's another one down the hall. Umm, hope you guys have a good night. Oh, and I am down the hall to the left if you need me and my mom is down the hall to the right." After that he left.
We all look at each other without talking for a minute.
"Umm, Well, We found out there from the Enchanted Lands! That's a good thing." Alice says.
"I guess." I say, questionably.
"We're all a bit tired. It's like," Emmet looks down to check his watch, "midnight. We should all get some sleep and we can deal with this in the morning."
"Ya, we should" Amy agrees, yawning.
"So if there are only three bedrooms someone is going to have to stay with someone else."
We all stare at each other again.
"Amy, Alice, either one of you can stay with me." I say bravely.
"I can stay with you Lily," Amy says, brightly.
"All right I guess that is all settled now lets get some rest."Emmet says, tired.
Alice and Emmet leave, leaving me and Amy.
"We should probably get our stuff." I say. I am so tired that I even had trouble saying that.
"We should but, naw, too tired."
"True, it has been a long day."
"Ya."
We both fall in the bed and pass out right when we hit the pillows.
