The next day that weird girl was out of my head. I could finally focus on my work. And my friends seemed to notice it.
“Hey, did you find out how the weird girl was?” Asked Emmet.
    “No,” I said.
“Well you have nothing to worry about. It was just a girl. But if you ever see her again let us know. You know, for Emmet.” Alice said, nodding her head towards Emmet, with a smile.
“Hey” Emmet said nungging Alice in the shoulder.
    I couldn’t help but laugh.

After I left Alice and Emmet to go to social studies something caught my eye. A girl, with different clothes but I knew it was the same girl, her face was the same. She was wearing a white shirt, plain brown pants, and the same brown bag around her neck. crouched down looking at one of the glass cases with trophies in it. All of the people were ignoring her, just going around her.
This time I would not lose her. I walked up and she did not even look up. I tapped her shoulder, startling her. She jumped back like a foot. Most of the hall was empty now. I was going to be late, but I can’t lose her.
    “Hi,” I said cautiously.
I walked up to her and she was as still as a saute. Now that I was up close to her I could see she had black circles under her eyes saying that she needed much more sleep. Her hair was more ruffled and oily. I have to tell Emmet and Alice.
I gave a little wave hoping that would make her feel more comfortable talking to me. She gave a deep breath and said “Hi” in a sugary voice.
“Hello, my name is Amy” I said, putting out my hand so she could shake it.
She didn’t take it though. All she said was “hi” again.
“Are you a new student here?” I asked.
“Yes” she said, her face looking much less scared now.
Just then the bell rang. I knew that I should get to class but there was something about this girl that I wanted to help her and make friends with her. What a weird feeling.
“What was that?” the girl asked.
“You never heard a bell before?”
“You know, the sound that tells you that you have to go to your next class. It’s kind of annoying.”
When she did not answer I asked “what’s your next class?”
     “Ummmm, Social Studies”
“Oh, cool, we have the same class. You want me to show you the way?”
She bit her bottom lip like she was concentrating really hard.
     “Sure”
While we were walking to the class I tried to make up a conversation.
“So what school are you from?”
     “Ummm, well I was homeschooled”
“Oh, nice. Did you like it?” I knew nothing about being homeschooled and I wanted to know what it was like.
     “Ya, it’s pretty nice”
“Well hopefully you like this school, it’s really nice and there are some really nice people in here”
“Thanks, I am already liking this place”
“If you want a tour I have some free time after this class if you want I could give you a tour?”
“Ya, that would be really nice”
      “I didn’t get your name”
“Oh, sorry I just am not used to being around people”
“That’s ok, I totally get it”
      “My name is Lily”
      “That’s a really nice name”
We arrived at the social studies classroom. Everyone was already in their seats and I could tell that we were very late. I held out my hand for her to shake it, “I am Amy,” I said. Lily looked down on my hand looking like she didn’t know what to do.
Finally she looked up and said nicely, “Nice to meet you,”
Then she turned away and walked in.
