“What do you think Lily?” I asked. I let her into the guest room which was pretty basic with white walls, some wilted pink flowers, and a bed in the corner covered with so many pillows and blankets that it was hard to see the bed. This room hasn’t been used in a long long time, the last time was when everything was normal. When I had my…. No, I was not going to think about it. I shoved that thought down.
Lily finally was ok with staying over at my house. Even if she told her story to us and we were ok with it she still seemed really distracted and worried. When she saw the room and the way my parents greeted her with pleasure because I have not made a new friend in such a long time made her face lit up and she finally had a smile on her face.
“Thanks,” she said, “I have never thought seeing a bed would ever make me happy. Last night I had to sleep on the ground outside.”
I smiled back, “well I am glad that a bed can make you happy. I wish I can give you more.”
“Thank you,” she said again, “but this is more than enough.”
We moved to sit on the bed, endless silence followed. I still had to wrap my mind around the part that Lily was from a different world.
“Are you ok?” I finally asked.
She let out a breath, “no, I mean I am relieved that you guys did not unfriend me but…”
“Wooo, wait you thought we were going to unfriend you?”
“I mean, ya. Once you heard that I am a girl from a different world, the girl that has seen weird things, the girl that can do weird things. I am a freak.”
“Stop right there. You are not a freak.”
“Yes, I am.” She replied back.
“No, you are not.” I repeated. “Even though I just met you I know you are going to be my best friend, and I know you will be something special.”
She looked down at her feet. “Thank you for saying that. But will I really be that special?”
     “Yes, of course.”
“How do you know?” Lily asked.
I sighed, how are we arguing about if she is good or not? Can’t she see that she will do great stuff. She knows much more than us. She’s from a different world for heaven's sake. Then I said, “trust me, I just know.” Lily looked at me thoughtfully.
“I guess we will find out.” She said, She then rolled up into a tight ball, closed her eyes and looked like she was sleeping.
After a few minutes I called out “lily?” softly. She did not answer. She must be asleep. I left her for a good night's rest, closing the door quietly behind me. Was she really from a different world? Was that even possible? I mean I believe her but it was hard to wrap my head around it. I also want to know how it was like for her, I want to know more about this mystery world. I know I can’t ask her tonight. I guess I would have to wait until the morning. I think that it’s so cool and why she would leave that all behind. I get that she found out that everyone was lying to her and that she found out her parents were from here but if I was her I would stay. That would be the only life I knew. She must have been very brave to leave the only world she knew behind and I could see that she was scared. No, not scared terrified. I want to make sure that she does not feel scared while she is here. I will help her find her parents whatever it takes.
