154. Stern Reply to Saroj Mami

Next evening, Mineil were at the restaurant,

It was raining and the car wasn't getting started due to some issue. 

Neil: Are yaar.... Ab car ko kya ho gaya?

Mini: (Smiled) Let it be... Aaj mausam bhi bahot accha hai... Chalte chalte jaate hai haveli... 

Neil: Ok. 

They were under an umbrella walking to the haveli by the side of the narrow roads. Their fingers were intervened together around the umbrella handle. 

There was many puddles on the roads so they were walking close to each other, Neil's arm was wrapped around Mini's shoulder and Mini's arm was wrapped around his waist. Their umbrella got lowered as they walked around the puddles and were chuckling together.

Suddenly someone pulled Mini's hand with a jerk and made her turn. Mini's foot turned with the jerk and the she would have fallen but as Neil was holding her by her shoulder, she didn't. 

Mini: Ouch... 

Mini's other hand loosened the grip on Neil and she while turning, was about to slap that person hard but her hand stopped just few inches apart from the person's cheek. 

Mini: Saroj Mami? 

Saroj: Tujhe sharam nahi aati hai zara si bhi?.... Kabhi to apne khandan ki bhi soch liya kar.... Itni raat ko....is ladke ke saath....bahar ghum rahi hai.... 

She pulled her away from Neil but her foot was paining and she couldn't balance. 

Mini: Aah...

Mini furiously jerked Saroj Mami's hand to get off her grip.

Mini: Leave me!

Saroj Mami stepped back because of the jerk. 

Neil slid his hand from her shoulder to her waist knowing that she won't be able to handle and may fall. 

Neil: Are Careful. 

Mini held him by his shoulder for support and nodded while wincing as her ankle was paining much. 

Mini stood up properly and took a deep breath. Still holding Neil's shoulder, She bent down and took off her stilettos, standing on the ground, barefoot.

Mini: Huh.... (To Neil) Ab theek hai... Nas chad gayi hai shayad...

Neil nodded.

Neil moved behind her to let her be under the umbrella preventing her to get drenched twice in two days or else what if she gets fever.

Mini: (turned to Saroj) Kya problem hai aapko Saroj Mami?

Saroj: (almost screaming) Tujhe arya ki kuch padi bhi hai ki nahi?.....Uspe kya asar hoga is sab ka.

Mini: Ek to Saroj mami. Aap na dheere bolo.....Main Neil ke saath restaurant se ghar ja rahi hu... usme Arya pe kya bura asar padega.... Aap na apni bakwas apne paas rakha karo na..... Vaise bhi mujhe aapse koi baat nahi karni jo meri behen ko daraati dhamkaati ho... Apne kaam se kaam rakhoge to better rahega.

Mini turned again and walked further with Neil.

Neil: Tum theek ho na?... Chal pa rahi ho?

Mini: Ha... I am fine.

Neil: Ok.

They went towards the haveli. Neil was still holding Mini by her waist and she was walking slowly because of the twist.

Neil kept the umbrella at the door while Mini waited for him standing while keeping her palm on the wall for support.

Mini and Neil went inside the haveli but Saroj mami was behind them.
