Twilight: Chapter Thirty-Eight

I can see Bella fidgeting with her hands while we pull into the school's parking lot.

"Bella, don't worry," I say, grabbing her hands. "You are going to do great today."

"I guess," She replies. She is not very chatty today. We get out of the car and start to head towards the front door when I see some of the Cullens at their cars. I take Bella's hand and drag her over so I can introduce them.

"Bella, this is Jasper. I know you two haven't officially met." I say, grabbing Jasper's hand, and smiling at him. The Cullens never met Bella when she came to visit me back when I was in the hospital, so this is the first time for all of them. A moment of silence passes. I hate silence. "And this is the rest of the Cullen family: Alice, Emmett, and Rosalie." They all wave back, Rosalie doing so reluctantly. "Where is Edward?" I ask.

"He had to help Esme with something. He should be here before first period." Alice says, smiling away. I know she knows something. I give her a look. She won't give anything up

"Oh, okay," I say. There is a slightly awkward pause. "Well, I have to take Bella to get her schedule. I'll see y'all in class." I give Jasper a quick kiss and walk Bella into school.

We walk into the front office and walk up to the desk. "Good morning, Mrs. Cope," I greet her.

"Oh! Good morning, Ms. Swan. Is this your sister?" She asks me, turning her focus to Bella.

"Yes!" I turn and look at Bella as well.

"Hello. I'm Bella." She smiles at Mrs. Cope.

"Lovely to meet you." She starts to flip through papers. "Just one moment while I grab your schedule." She gets up and walks into the back room, flipping through more papers.

"So, are you excited?" I ask her while we wait.

"I wouldn't say excited." I can tell she's nervous. I give her a big smile. Mrs. Cope comes out holding a piece of paper in her hand.

"Here it is, honey." She hands Bella her schedule. "Just have your teachers sign it and bring it back to me at the end of the day." She gives her a soft smile.

"Thank you so much." She replies. We walk into the hallway to go find her locker. She finds it and puts some of her things in it while I look at her schedule.

"So, we have English and Spanish together!"

"At least I'll know someone in those classes." She lets out a small laugh.

We start to walk to AP English. Everyone's eyes fall on Bella as we make our way. It's a little unnerving. Weirdos. I look over at Bella and she just has her eyes down, not paying attention to them. She was always good at shutting people out and going into her own little world.

As we walk into class, Jasper and Alice are already there, sending smiles our way. I smile brightly back and walk to my seat. After getting her slip signed, Bella walked back and sat next to me on my left. The class went on as usual. Boring as always. Bella seemed to be very intrigued by whatever the teacher was talking about.

I noticed Lyv wasn't there. I looked over at Alice and mouthed, Where is Lyv? She shook her head and took out her phone, texting her I'm assuming. I got mine out and did the same. She texted me back saying she has some family things going on, so she decided to stay home. I'll call her when I get home.

The rest of the school day went by in a blur. I was so bored. I can't wait to hear all about Bella's day. I get in the car and crank the heat on so it is warm when Bella gets in. About 10 minutes later, I see her coming out of the front doors, and she does not look happy. She gets in a lets out a loud, angry sigh.
