I ended up sleeping the rest of the day and the whole night. I would've slept longer, but my alarm went off. I sit up and instantly feel the soreness encompassing my body. Groaning, I get up and start to get ready. I can't stay in bed anymore, or my dad will grow even more worried about me. Based on the time, I know he has already left for work. I can feel a long talk coming tonight.
I have thought about telling my father what is happening to me, but I feel like it would put him in danger. What if one day I run into someone with an ability that could negatively affect me, and I turn dangerous? I could do some damage. Anna told me this legend about a siphoner who gained an ability that turned them into a monster. She also told me that certain siphoner didn't live much longer after gaining the ability. Apparently, some people would do anything to keep the world rid of siphoners, hence why Anna is the only person who knows about me.
I grab a lavender sweater and black leggings and head to the bathroom. I quickly hop into the shower, seeing that I haven't showered since the night before last. I wash my hair and body and run a razor over my legs. I hop out and put my clothes on. As I am blow drying my hair, I think about this ability. Seeing into the future? Sounds like something right out of a fantasy novel. Hell, my whole life sounds like some crazy fantasy novel.
I put the hair dryer away and put some concealer under my eyes and a little mascara on my lashes to open my eyes. Once I look pretty decent, I go into my room and put my shoes on. I grab my coat and my bag and head downstairs. I walk into the kitchen and see Anna putting a plate of pancakes at my seat.
"Hey, sweetie. How are you feeling?" She asked cautiously.
"I feel a lot better. Actually, I feel amazing, aside from the soreness."
"That's great! Have you tried to see anything?" I'm confused for a quick second, but then I understand. I did try to see if I could see something while I was in the shower—no such luck.
"Yeah, but nothing happened. I'll keep trying. And soon enough, I'll have it under control, just like the others." I say confidently.
"I believe in you. Now eat up." I eat my food and wash my dishes. Anna locks up, and we rush to the car and start the heat up. The ride to school consists of us singing to the songs on the radio. Well, I wouldn't call what we were doing singing, but we were doing our best.
As we pull into the parking lot, I am drawn to a group of people standing around a Jeep. Must be those new kids to school. Wow. They are all beautiful. Two of them seem very familiar, but I can't seem to put my finger on it.
"Okay, gotta go. I have to stop by my classes and grab the work I missed to try and get it done before classes." I say, stepping out of the car.
"Have a good day! Take it easy. Remember what Dr. Cullen said honey."
"I will, I will," I say and wave at her. As I turn to walk towards the school, I see the new kids staring at me and talking.
"Problem?" I ask, looking right at them. One of the boys and one of the girls looks very familiar.
"Not at all." The familiar girl says to me, walking up to me. "Hi. I'm Alice Cullen. I didn't get to formally introduce myself yesterday in English." She holds out her hand for me.
I shake her hand and say, "Janetta Swan. And yeah. So dramatic of m—". The second my hand wraps around hers, an image flashes in my head. It's her, kneeling over someone. She is saying something. I focus on the voice. She's saying, "...come on, Netta, wake up!" It sounds like she's crying.
