And so, Madeline Emerald and Arvid Williams Sr. run away from their parents as fugitives from the law, thus beginning their intense journeys. Avoiding dangerous roads, deadly areas, and forbidden railroads, they keep running and running and running. Though Madeline is confident that they'll survive, Arvid isn't. But, they continue running as fast as they could. Until they reached a quiet wooded area where the soldiers couldn't see them.
Madeline and Arvid ran through the woods and stopped dead their tracks to catch their breath.
"Okay... Okay..." Madeline panted. "I think we lost them. Let's stop right here for now to catch our breath." She was panting so much, she didn't notice the sweat dripping off her body. Or Arvid getting ready to have a panic attack.
"Good.....lord!" Arvid cried out in distress. "We..........just.........disobeyed the law of our government!"
Madeline looked at him with concerning eyes.
"Arvid, look at me." She said with a somewhat stern, yet polite tone. "We're far away from our Fathers. We will be okay."
"Oh my goodness gracious, I made a mistake!" Arvid cried, ignoring Madeline. "Running away with a wolf I barely even know! What in the world have I DONE?!" He collapsed to his knees, looked down, and clenched his hair. "Father must think I'm a failure to the family name! I destroyed the Williams name!!"
"Arvid, that's enough!" Madeline exclaimed, putting her paws on Arvid's shoulders. Arvid looked up. "Look at my eyes. As long as we keep moving forward, our Fathers will never find us. We just need to keep on going and we'll be fine."
"Going to what...?" Arvid said with his head back down. "I made a huge mistake. I don't even know you and we are on the run. Together. Me. And you, a wolf with a human heart. We are..........we are gonna face terrible consequences when my Father and your Father catch us."
Madeline took her paws off of Arvid's shoulders and looked down.
"What's wrong?" Arvid asked.
"Maybe, you're right." Madeline responded. "Maybe both of us made the mistake of disobeying our Fathers. But, we can't turn back now knowing that you will be killed for disobeying something that is punishable by law. We need to keep our heads up high and find somewhere to hide until we can figure out how to talk to your Father without us getting punished. We need to keep running so we don't get caught. Please."
Arvid slowly got up dusting off the dirt from his pants.
"I guess we need to find somewhere to stay for a while until we have the energy to keep running from..........the law." Arvid sighed reluctantly. "After all, we're fugitives now. So, we must keep running and hiding until we can find a place where no one will ever find us..."
"That's the spirit, Arvid." Madeline said with a smile. "Now, come on. We need to find ourselves a shelter so we can recharge for the day."
"Okay..." Arvid sighed, as he and Madeline continued walking through the wooded landscape.
Meanwhile...
A patriot kneels down and examines a set of footprints both from a human and wolf. He walked up to Williams III and said, "They went this way, sir."
"We must find them at once." Williams III said sternly.
"And then what?" Father Wolf said, looking up at Williams III. "You'll banish my daughter forever?"
