And so, Madeline and Arvid's journey to the mountains continued as they marched forward with determination in their eyes. They slept at a cave until dawn and felt fully rested. They walked from town to town and ate from tavern to tavern and left fully refreshed. Meanwhile, the patriots and wolves continued searching for them and preparing to bring them to justice, questioning witnesses and searching buildings. And as Madeline and Arvid continued moving forward, they found yet another place to stay: A beautiful lake with a cave with shimmering crystals peppering the grounds.
Madeline and Arvid stood in front of the cave and looked behind them, seeing the lake and staring at both in awe.
"So..........beautiful...." Madeline said in awe and wonder. "Just like God intended..."
"It is beautiful indeed, Madeline." Arvid agreed. "Never saw anything like it. Beautiful..." Arvid walked into the cave while Madeline stared into the lake, staring at her beautiful reflection.
"Goodness, I never realized how beautiful I look." Madeline said, smiling.
"Okay, let's not get egotistical and come look inside the cave." Arvid called out. "You really need to see this..." Madeline walked into the cave and stared into the shining and shimmering crystals hanging from all around the cave.
"Wow....." Madeline said, the crystals reflecting from her eyes. "It is really......lovely..."
"Such a gorgeous view..." Arvid agreed. "Something like this has to come once in a lifetime." He suddenly smiled.
"Arvid!" Madeline cried in amazement. "You are...........smiling?"
"I suppose I am..." Arvid said. He looked at Madeline. "Listen, Madeline. I'm truly sorry for the way I treated you since we first met. I suppose not all wolves are like you. You're one of a kind..." Madeline's eyes were suddenly filled with tears.
"You're really kind, Arvid." She said gratefully. "Thank you." She and Arvid continued staring into the beautiful insides of the cave. Then suddenly, Madeline took off and jumped into the lake.
"Ha ha haaa!" She laughed joyfully. "Come on in, Arvid. The waters nice and warm!" Arvid looked back in confusion.
"I don't think that is a good idea." He said.
"Please? You will love it." Madeline said, smiling as she's swimming throughout the lake. Arvid looked down for a minute. Then, he took off his shoes and cap and ran towards the lake, jumping in and getting Madeline all wet.
"Hehehe!" Madeline giggled. "Did you really want to come in the lake with your clothes on?"
"Well, I'm not gonna swim in the lake naked." Arvid said. "Think fast!" He splashed water onto Madeline again. Madeline splashed water onto Arvid back. They both started splashing water onto each other, laughing and having fun.
Later...
Madeline and Arvid left the lake and went to the next town with Arvid buying new clothes that somehow look identical to the ones he already had on. He changed into them and he and Madeline stayed at another Inn.
"Today was wonderful, Madeline..." Arvid said, laying on his bed. "You are quite the playful wolf."
"Thanks, Arvid." Madeline said, resting on her bed. "Today WAS wonderful. Miraculous even. And God was watching us the entire time..."
