Several hours later...
As they continued to walk through yet another town, the sun began to set. The town was empty on the outside but people were inside their homes getting ready to sleep.
"Sun is going down again..." Arvid sighed. "We should find an Inn to stay at so we can get enough energy to get to the mountains."
"Agreed." Madeline said. "But, I doubt they will allow animals in an Inn."
"Good point, kid." Arvid sighed. "Wait. Maybe we can try that seeing eye wolf lie again."
"Good idea." Madeline said. "Come on. Let's get to an Inn."
Madeline and Arvid looked around town for an Inn and finally found one called the Wolf Lodge.
"Wow. Looks like you are famous." Arvid said, causing Madeline to blush. They walked into the Inn and, of course, the concierge said, "No pets allowed."
"I..." Madeline tried to speak.
"She's my seeing eye wolf." Arvid interrupted. "I cannot go anywhere without her. I need her."
"Very well." The concierge said. He handed Arvid a key and Arvid handed him money and he and Madeline walked into their room and Arvid closed the door behind him.
"I don't normally have a temper," Madeline growled, "but I am getting really sick of everyone thinking I am a pet."
"Don't worry about it, Madeline." Arvid said, slowly getting onto his bed. "You are nobody's pet."
"Appreciate it, Arvid." Madeline said, climbing onto her bed. "I am tiiiiiired... I'm gonna sleep a little earlier. Goodnight, Arvid."
"Goodnight, kid." Arvid said, stretching his legs and arms while laying down.
"Dear Jesus, thank you for guiding us through these dark times." Madeline prayed catching Arvid's attention. Arvid watched as she prayed to God, thanking him for everything.
"In Jesus' name," Madeline concluded, "Amen." She then curled up and went to sleep. Arvid laid back onto his bed and stared at the wooden ceiling.
Praying.... He thought. ...............That...remains as something I have not done in a long time... He slowly sat up and folded his hands together. But, he didn't do anything else after that.
"Never give up on God, Arvid." Madeline said, her eyes still closed. "Never ever give up. Goodnight."
Arvid stared at his folded hands without saying a word. Then, he finally spoke, "Dear God.........please tell my family......I love them to death....." Tears began to form in his eyes. "Tell them that no matter where they are or what they're doing, I will always keep them in my heart.... I love you, my wonderful wife and children.... I love you so much.... Amen..." He opened his eyes and let out a deep and loud sigh. Then, he laid back onto his bed and closed his eyes.
The next morning...
"Good morning, Arvid." Madeline said, yawning. "Did you sleep well?"
"I did..." Arvid said, sitting up and yawning himself. "Just woke up and am not so ready to start the day.."
"Oh, don't say that." Madeline giggled. "Today is gonna be a miraculous day! I promise you that."
