Please watch this video before reading the story. Captions provided. I give the music credit to the composers of the Disney film, "Jack London's White Fang". The last onscreen message on the video said, "In memory of Mocha. My sweet, sweet dog...". Also, in the end of this video, I was gonna say "You're probably gonna have a different view of sadness", but, I was unable to say it... Enjoy the video and the story....
Six years later...
This is the story of Madeline Emerald, a teenage white wolf, the most beautiful wolf in the Thirteen Colonies, and a Christian. She is known for being really sweet and kindhearted to everyone. The male wolves are in love with her. The female wolves are jealous of her beauty. The color of her eyes, however, are very unusual. Despite having the last name "Emerald", the irises in her eyes both have two different colors. The irises in both eyes are half strengite and half vermarine colored. This picture I made shows an example of what I'm talking about,
This is only an example. These aren't Madeline's eyes. Both of her eye colors are half strengite and half vermarine, names of two gemstones. Anyway, Madeline Emerald is friendly towards anyone around her and away from her too. Other wolves, humans, birds, cats, everyone! She and her family live in a cave in the forest in Delaware. Madeline is resting on a slightly rocky ground. But, her older brother, Ben, jumped in. "Hey, Emerald!" He yelled. "Get up please." "What? Huh?" Madeline yawned, waking up. "B-Ben? What are you doing here? It's almost midnight." "Sorry, Madeline." Ben sighed tiredly. "But, father needs to talk to us at once!" His whisper sounded bitter. "Oh....well, okay." Madeline whispered. "You got it, brother." Madeline always calls Ben, "Brother" instead of his name. Oh, and here are the ages of Madeline and Ben. Madeline is 15 years old, while her brother is 18 years old. "I'll be right there." Madeline whispered. "You can count on me. A whole lot. Anyone can." "I don't think that's the case, Madeline." Ben sighed, as he walked away. Madeline made a sad look. Brother... She thought. I love you a lot, but I want you to be nice to me... Ben treats Madeline with disrespect, but is hiding the fact that he really loves her as his younger sister. Madeline slowly got up and walked towards an old newspaper. She sat down and read it. It reads,
Delaware Congressman, King Ridley Z. Williams III, outlaws humans from talking to wolves with permission from Congress. Most Congressmen supported the law, thinking it'll increase the chances of winning the war. Other Congressmen criticized it for being unreasonable. They believe it's not "worthy enough" for victory. Mason Adams, a Congressman, called the new law "outrageous". Adams was the former colleague of Williams III until the law was made. Williams III's son, Arvid Williams Sr., also a congressman, was highly supportive of the law, stating, "I've been afraid of wolves since I was younger. As a member of Congress, I helped father urge our colleagues to sign the bill into law."
I wish we could talk to humans.... Madeline thought sadly. But, I have to obey the President.... "Madeline?" Madeline's mother, Mother wolf, called out. Mother wolf is quite the loving one towards her children. "You need to come out of your room!" She called out. "Yes, mother!" Madeline called out. "I'm coming!" She slowly got up and walked out of her room. She came into a large area in the cave where her parents, Mother wolf and Father wolf, Ben the wolf, and a couple of wolves are waiting. Father wolf is a pretty strict and worry prone wolf, but he still has a heart. "You were asked to come here at THIS time, young lady." Father wolf said, slightly upset. "Sorry, Father." Madeline said. "I must have overslept." "That isn't an excuse, Madeline." Mother wolf said. "You needed to be here at midnight! You should not have been late!" "I didn't mean to be late, Mother!" Madeline said with a tear in her eye. "I tried to stay awake." "You shouldn't make up lies." Ben sighed. "I'm not lying, Ben!" Madeline cried with another tear in her eye. "I really overslept!" "You know midnight is a big night, Madeline!" A wolf growled. Midnight is a special night for these wolves. It's for howling at the moon. They've done this for a long time. "Well, you need to try to get here on time, Madeline." Father wolf said, sounding much more calmer. "Please try to get here on time, okay, Maddy?" "Yes, Father." Madeline said, wiping her tears off with her paws while smiling. "I won't let you down."
Meanwhile at Dover, capital of Delaware...
Now, let's talk about Arvid Williams Sr., a Congressman and the son of King Ridley Z. Williams III. Actually, Arvid was only adopted, despite having the same last name as his adoptive father. Arvid is a broken and depressed man, who was once a Christian. But, he lost his family when his family died from their slavery conditions. He lost faith in God ever since. You also saw what he said on the newspaper,
"I've been afraid of wolves since I was younger."
It's definitely and sadly true. This 52 year old Congressman has a phobia of wolves. Right now, he is wearing a dark blue coat, blue shirt, white gloves, white stockings, blue breeches, and golden braids on his coat. Finally, he has long white hair tied in a ponytail. "Father?" He said in a quiet voice, as he walked down the stairs in his home. Walking downstairs led him to a living room. The couches were arranged in the shape of the letter "U". The house he and King Ridley III live at is a mansion in the shape of a rectangle. The mansion's color was light brown. No one, however, is home. "Father? Are you away from home?" Arvid asked, gravely annoyed. Blast! I thought he would return. He thought. He's been working for countless weeks. I hope he's okay... Arvid walked towards a couch and slowly sat down. On the coffee table was a piece of rolled up paper. Arvid stared at it motionlessly. Later, he picked it up, unrolled it, and read an old text on it,
Wolves almost kill Delaware Congressman's son.
An article by Samuel Adams.
Arvid was almost killed by wolves when he was 5 years old. He wandered into a forest unsupervised. When he walked into a cave, he accidentally woke up an alpha male. He almost killed Arvid, but his parents found him and saved him. Since then, he has developed a severe phobia of wolves. Also, he is an apprentice of Samuel Adams, one of America's founding fathers. Arvid is highly intelligent and, as a result, became an apprentice of Adams when Williams III told him about Arvid. Wolves... Arvid thought. ....are unspeakably vicious beasts. I cannot think of anything or anyone worse than wolves. "Arvid?" Williams III said, as he came into the room. "Father?" Arvid exclaimed, as he got up. "You have returned home?" "Yes, son. I had a serious meeting at Congress." Williams III replied. "What are you doing down here?" "I thought I heard a gunshot, Father." Arvid lied. "I came down here as soon as I could." "Son!" Williams III snapped, knowing that he is lying. "Gunshots can't be heard through our windows!" The windows at the mansion are slightly soundproof. "You're a hopeless case, Arvid!" Williams III snapped again. "You need to change that!" "It is not that easy, Father!" Arvid shouted. "My family is not coming back! The only thing I can do is always be in distress!" Arvid and Williams III have a bad relationship, but Williams III loves his son so much. In fact, he is highly overprotective of him. Arvid loves him as well, but they argue a lot. "You must not mourn over your loss terribly!" Williams III shouted. "God wouldn't want you to stress over it! You have to know that your family will always love you. They will always be with you in your heart." Arvid looked down and walked back upstairs. "Arvid!! Get back here!!" Williams III cried. "This is not an acceptable choice!!!" But, Arvid was already back upstairs. That boy needs to respect and obey his elders. Williams III thought. But, he will always grieve over his loss really stressfully. Yep. These are the lives of Ms. Madeline and the incredible Mr. Arvid. You are gonna be reading a lot of emotional and heartwarming stuff in this story. In the next chapter, we'll come across some crazy stuff. Enjoy the rest of the story.
