Chapter fourty nine

Karen and I are together in my office. She was sitting on the couch and was waiting for what I would order her.

Karen finally accepted the job I offered to her, to be my secretary, maybe she felt bored at home and she wants to work.

I loosened my necktie before I walked over to her and sat next to her.I leaned on the couch and closed my eyes while crossing my arms.

"I really admit that I am a very selfish person."

I said laughing a little.

I felt her move next to me

Sophie didn't talk to us this morning. She was quiet with every move she made so I just sighed and let her be. I want to give Sophie some space because I know she hasn't accepted the truth yet and she seems surprised.

I opened my eyes and turned to Karen who was silently staring at me. Her eyes were mixed with emotions, sad and she's concern.

"Have you not repented to forgive and welcome me back into your life?"

She silently shook her head.

"Don't you regret choosing me instead of avoiding me?"

She frowned.

"W-what are you talking about?"

She looked shocked by my question.

"I'm selfish Kar, I'm a useless father."

I also started to be emotional. I couldn't stop myself from feeling that.

"No, don't say that Tim you just did what was better."

I nodded but

"I should have told her the truth."

My tears started to flow

"But every time I try, I feel like a coward."

Karen hugged me and she was also infected by my emotion because I saw tears forming in her eyes.

"I'm just afraid of what Sophie will feel."

She rubbed my back trying to calm me down.

"Tim, I know you are a good father, you care about Sophie and you love her very much."

She held my face and looked at me seriously.

"I believe in you Tim."

I smiled and calmed down and I kissed her for a moment on the lips which surprised her.

Karen's cheeks reddened afterwards.

"Thank you for making my day better. you're my superwoman in life."

I hugged her tightly because she made me feel better. When she's by my side, I'm always happy and better.

"Let's go somewhere."

She said and I let go of the hug.

I'ma confused.

"Okay, where are we going?"

She rolled her eyeball.

"In a place you will love."

Karen looked at her wrist watch.

"Let's go, come I'll show you."

I couldn't do anything when he pulled me out of the office.

"Okay."

I laughed a little while she smile at me lovely.

Karen drove and I was next to her inside the car. Her pace was just right and she was obviously excited to show me the place where she said I would like it.

It was more than 20 minutes before we reached the place and she just stopped the car on the side.

I frowned when I saw that we were in the woods?

She took my hand again and entered the forest. I just drifted and followed her.

We passed by an old tree house that was obviously still well built.

"What is this place?"

I asked when we stopped in the tree house.

"This is where we used to hang out and play when I was young with my cousins and friends but when we grew up, it was abandoned."

I smiled, maybe she had a lot of cool childhood memories back then.

"So is this the place you say I will like?"

She shook her head.

"Nope! so let's go."

She continues taking me until we reach the end.

After we passed many trees, I didn't expect to see how beautiful the place is.

I was surprised for a while and my lips fell open

"Wow!"

We both stared at the sunset. We could hear every wave crashing on the beach.

Karen walked in front of me smiling.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?"

She asked.

"Yes, you're so beautiful."

I said while staring at her face.

She laughed and hold my hand.

"And you are also very handsome!"

I smiled and I took my cell phone from my pocket.

"Let's take a picture together."

She smiled and come closer to me.

We stayed there for a while when I suddenly remembered Sophie.

We sat on the log while looking at the sunset. I stood up and Karen looked at me.

"We need to get Sophie from her school."

I'm sure they finished class and ready to went home it's already five o'clock pm.

She nodded and stood up.

After a few minutes we arrived at Sophie's school.

We noticed that there were few people in the school, maybe the others had already gone home.

When I couldn't see Sophie, one of her teachers happened to pass so I asked her.

"Excuse me ma'am, I'm looking for my daughter Sophie Dynaire."

The teacher smiles at me.

"Oh, Sophie? I saw her earlier with her auntie."

I frowned and shocked.

"What? do you know who?"

Karen and I stared at each other

"Yes, Sophie said she's her aunt Alice. I guess Sophie went with her."

Karen hold my hand.

"Okay, thank you."

I swallowed and trying to calm down.

"Why did Alice took Sophie? What is her intention?"

I said in my mind.
