Chapter fifty six

It's another new day and time just flies so fast I didn't realize it was already afternoon and we had to pick up Sophie from her school.

I had a sudden thought while I was driving my car to Sophie's school with Karen.

Sophie will definitely be happy where we're going and I've been wanting to take her there for a long time but I'm just looking for timing and the right time.

After we picked up Sophie from her school, I immediately started the engine of my car and drove to that place.

"We're just going somewhere for a while."

I suddenly broke the silence inside the car. Karen turned to me.

"To where daddy?"

Sophie asked curiously.

"To your mommy."

I answered causing Sophie to frown.

"To Mommy?"

She said as if she didn't understand what I said.

"In your mommy's grave."

When I explained, Sophie's eyes widened.

"Oh thank you daddy, I'm excited to talk to mommy."

She said so happily that I smiled.

I looked at Karen who was also smiling.

"Mommy do you know my real mom?"

Sophie asked Karen.

"Yes, I know your mommy, Sophie."

Sophie was shocked and couldn't believe it.

"Really? Are you friends with my mom?"

Sophie asked again and Karen didn't immediately answer.

"By the way, daddy, what is my mom's name?"

She suddenly asked me and that's what I forgot to tell Sophie.

"Shanelle"

Karen answered.

"Oh! our names both start with letter 'S'! cool!"

Sophie said in amazement.

Karen did not speak again and chose to remain silent.

It didn't take long and we arrived at the place. The wind was very calm and cool. We went down together and went to Shanelle's grave.

"Hi mommy I'm Sophie! I'm all grown up and Daddy loves me so much."

Sophie happily said.

"Do you know, mommy, I met someone who's very kind to me and to daddy!"

Karen and I were quiet on the side.

"She takes care of me and reads me a story before bed."

Karen smiled at what Sophie said.

"Mommy, daddy is very lucky with her, so don't worry, she won't hurt daddy and daddy won't be sad anymore."

Sophie turned to me.

"Daddy your turn to talk to mom."

Sophie said with a smile that made me laugh a little.

"Hello, how are you? Our daughter is now big. Sorry if we just visited."

I started.

"Don't worry I'm taking good care of her, I won't let anything happens to her and I'll protect her like you said."

I held Karen's hand.

"You're right Shanelle, Karen is very kind and deserves to be truly loved and taken care of."

When I couldn't say anything, Sophie turned to Karen.

"Your turn mommy."

She said to Karen.

Karen cleared her throat.

"Hi Shanelle? uhm, I didn't expected you'd suddenly gone."

She started

"We didn't even have a chance to talk again."

Karen laughed.

"I also want to apologize to you for what I said before."

Karen's voice suddenly became broke.

"D-despite what h-happened before, I have not forgotten that w-we are f-friends."

I saw the tears forming in her eyes.

"Don't worry I'll take care of Sophie and I won't leave her."

I just let her cry.

"I love Sophie very much and she is like my daughter."

Karen's words melted my heart.

"Shanelle I missed you, it's true that I miss you."

Karen wiped her tears and laughed.

"I'm sorry for being carried away by my emotions. I hope you will guide us always."

After we visit her grave, we immediately went home.

I feel better that we finally got to visit Shanelle's grave with Sophie and Karen.

Maybe it's time to move forward and focus on where we are happy now. Focus on the present and future.

I'm sure Shanelle is happy for us now. Especially with Sophie because we found a woman who will truly love her and that was none other than Karen.

Even though Sophie wasn't really her daughter, I saw and felt how she took care of her and how she worried about her.

I know that this is really the beginning of my life and I am happy that it all happened.

I promise myself that I will be a man and I want to be right and be honest with my family especially to Karen.

I don't want to break her trust in me again and I promise that she will be the happiest version of herself for staying and chosing me and Sophie in her life.
