Quote of the Chapter: "Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal."

“Ssshhh!” Brian urged softly at Jenny.

They’d been sitting at her bed for about half an hour, with Brian cradling and embracing Jenny the whole time.

“And...and…that bastard said–––” Jenny repeated once again, breaking into another fits of tears before she could finished the whole sentence.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, everything’s gonna be fine,” Brian said once more, pulling her closer.

Brian grimaced on her condition. She had been telling him what happened since the moment he arrived. And it seemed that she was not quite done yet.

“You don’t understand!” She shouted, hitting him in the chest.

“Yeah, I do. And from what I heard, there’s only one way out of this.” Brian stated in a soothing tone, slowly stroking her back.

Jenny looked at him with her red-rimmed blue eyes then. That moment the time stopped and he knew he was a goner. “Really?” Jenny squeaked, hope filling her eyes.

Brian nodded a few times before saying, “Yeah. What you need to do is when that what’s-his-name arrive, you reject him outright. Problem solve!”

“No. You don’t know my parents. They’re major pain in the butt pushovers so I know that they will just keep pushing him over me.”

Brian scowled. “Well, I guess that leave me no choice. If he makes any advances to you, then tell me immediately and I’m gonna beat him into a bloody pulp that he himself will leave crawling backwards with all his luggage.”

Jenny couldn’t help but smile then burst out laughing. “You idiot! What if he calls the police?” she said, smiling at him widely.

He smiled back and slowly caressed her face. “Who cares?” he asked. “I’m serious, you know. If he ever, ever makes any advances to you, you tell me and I’ll take care of him.” he stated seriously, resolution clouding his eyes.

Jenny stared at him, transfixed with his determination. She reached out her hand and cupped his face. “I really love your eyes. It reminds me of trees and nature and leaves and everything that I like. You also remind me of my favorite place.”

It was Brian’s turn this time to be left speechless for a second, then a smile spreads across his face. “You gotta take me there someday,” he whispered before slowly lowering his head closer into hers.

It was a sweet kiss. It wasn’t intense or earth shattering. It was more like magical and full of sparks. And when it was over, they found themselves smiling each other.

“That was fun!” Jenny giggled, blushing deep crimson. She didnn’t know why she should feel embarrassed because after all, she kissed a lot of guys before Brian. It was not like it was her first time but there something about Brian that made her feel alive and happy.

“See, I made you smile.” he pointed out. “Maybe I should do it every time you’re feeling down or sad.” he whispered once more, lowering his head again. But this time, he didn’t kiss her but just placed his forehead into hers and looked her in the eyes.
