Quote of the Chapter: "There is only one way to happiness, and that is to cease worrying things which are beyond the power of our will."

Brian felt it more than saw it. That was the third time he stepped into a mud hole, and nearly half of his shoe was covered by dirt. He grimaced at himself and looked at Jenny, who seemed very comfortable walking through the soft ground.

“You’re right, Jenny. I’ve never been here before. After all, this is the first time I’ve seen so much dirt in my life.” Brian commented, watching his every steps carefully while trying to catch up to Jenny, who was holding his hand and guiding him.

He heard her laughed at him but instead of looking back, she continued walking. “Is that you I heard complaining, Mr. Fancy Shoes,” she remarked.

Brian smiled and replied back. “No. that was me stating the truth!” He jumped in time, preventing stepping into another mud hole. “How do you know where to go anyway? If you tell me that it’s just by instinct, and then I will drag you even if I need to carry you out of this place.” He stated.

Jenny looked at him with a smile. “I wish I can do that but no. When I first went here, I left markings,” turning in front again, she continued. “I discovered this place by accident, you see. So I need to remember where to go somehow. You see that yellow thing?” she said, pointing into a yellow tape on one of the trees. “That’s one of my markings. They’re water-resistant tape so they never tear off. I also change them sometimes just to make sure."

Brian was amazed on how smart and creative she analyzed things through because even though he didn’t want to admit it, not all rich people had brain to go along with their money. He couldn’t believe that he got so lucky he found her. His own bright and beautiful star.

“How often do you go here?” Brian asked next.

“A few times. Especially when I need to think,” She responded shortly.

“Aren’t there animals in here? You know, snakes and lions and stuff?” He questioned, looking around for any sign.

Jenny turned her head to looked at him again. “Why? Are you scared?” She joked.

Brian scoffed. “No. I’m just trying to figure out how many I’m gonna beat up protecting you!”

Jenny stopped in front of him and gave him a tight hug, which he returned. “My knight and shining armor.” She murmured, before letting go and continued walking again.

“So, are there any?” Brian asked once more.

She chuckled. “No. I researched this place and from what I read, the soil in this place for unknown reason is deadly for animals. So we won’t see any predators because of the food chain thing. Some animals eating things that came from the ground and then bigger animals eating them in turn, so the poison’s being pass down without them knowing it. On the otherhand, the plant has this process which involves filtering of the nutrients they’re getting from the ground, preventing poison to enter their system. Even if you see an animal, it will be a harmless one.” She explained.
