2 weeks later…..
“Jenny, C’mon, talk to me” Brian pleaded, pounding loudly at the door.
“Go away!” a shout came from inside. Brian leaned his forehead into the door and tried to remember the whirlwind that happened these past few weeks.
Since that guy named David, who by the way Jenny’s first love, arrived, she hasn’t come out of her room yet. Only her maids, sister and mother were allowed to come in. Sometimes, Brian will ask her sister about Jenny’s condition but she will just reply that she just needs time to get herself back together. Brian wants to be there for her and for her to tell him that she’s really okay but it seems that it’s not gonna be anytime soon. He was actually glad that her sister even lets him in inside the house even if it was against their parents regulations.
He was doing this thing for the last couple of weeks since that big revelation exploded. He wants to clear up the air and to start over. To confirm that what he’s thinking is wrong. He just wants to be with her.
“I’ll come back when you’re ready, Jenny. Just remember that I’ll always be here waiting for you” he shouted through the thick and heavy door.
He didn’t hear any response so he just started walking away. He was really tired of everything. The work, this mess and the worry about his relationship. So he leaned in the wall not too far from Jenny’s room and closed his eyes. He clenched his fist and tried to take in the sadness and truth about Jenny. From what he actually heard, this David Thompsen a.k.a David Griffin was Jenny’s boyfriend. Until he was declared dead in the letter news Jenny and her friends received not a year and a half ago. It said that he fell down while rock climbing and died eventually. Little did they know that this guy was only injured and took in by his adoptive parents who live in London, which is actually the real reason of his so-called “business” trip there. David didn’t say about him “being rich and all because he wanted them just to be his friend and for them to like him as himself and not by his social status”. That was his explanation when his friends came over into Jenny’s house and check out what was going on. Brian grimaced on how complicated their situation they’re on right now. He took a deep breath and was about to leave when he heard someone,
“Hey, Jen. It’s me Dave. Can we talk?” said by the voice. Brian froze in his place, not moving at all. He knows that it was impossible for someone to see him in that position so he kept silent.
“C’mon, Jen. I’ll explain. Please I’m begging you” he said again.
After a few second, Jenny did the most hurtful thing to Brian, she opened the door. He needed to calm himself and didn’t make a move because he wants to know what’s really going on between them. So he just waited and listened,
“How are you doing?” Dave asked.
Jenny, with the red-rimmed eyes just laughed hysterically and said,
“I thought you were dead, Dave. This last year I was beating myself up because I thought somehow you’re dead because of me. And here you are, asking me how I am?” she replied, wiping away tears that she couldn’t control.
Dave’s expression changed into a very sad one,
“I’m sorry, Jen. I’m in a critical condition and was about to die so my dad decided what was the best thing to do. He said that it was to put some closure between me and my love ones” he replied.
“Love ones, huh? You made us think that you’re dead. Do you know how much tear I shed because of you? You have no idea how hard it is for me finding that you’re alive and kicking” she answered back, shaking her head.
“Somehow, I got well and recovered and I thought that it will be great going back here. Seeing you again made me happy” he responded, smiling on her.
“I’m not sure if I can forgive you, Dave. You cause so much pain on me. I can’t bear it if I trust you then you’ll vanish again” Jenny replied, her mouth curling from despair.
Dave stepped closer and held Jenny’s face,
“I loved you, Jenny and I still do. I tried my best to recover fast so I can come back here but I think I’m too late, huh?”
“If you love me then why didn’t you try to contact me? Why did you wait for a year to come back here? One phone call will be enough, is it that hard thing to do?” she asked with a frustrated voice, looking deep in Dave’s silver eyes.
“My doctors wouldn’t let me have any contact to my friends. They said that it will interrupt my recovering process. I would have called you if I could but it’s just impossible……” Dave replied.
Jenny didn’t say anything because after all, she has nothing. She just stayed like that, feeling the warmth of Dave. It feels good to have him talk to her and see him personally. Then a face flashed inside her mind,
“We can’t do this, Dave. I already have a boyfriend and he loves me very much” Jenny said, remembering Brian and feeling guilty of cheating like this behind his back.
“Then, why don’t you leave him? I know that he’ll understand. I know that you love me more than him so why don’t you come back to me? Come back to me, Jenny” Dave responded, pulling Jenny closer.
Little did they know that a figure was watching very closely to their conversation. He strode outside, trying his very hard not to get caught. He wouldn’t be able to control himself if he stayed any longer. He’s such a fool. But somehow, it opened his mind about many things. He looked up in heaven and smiled. He finally made his decision. But whether it's right ot wrong, he sure hell doesn't have a clue.
