Allie came striding upon the hallway of the apartment that her sister’s boyfriend was occupying. Jenny told her about what happened earlier today so she volunteered to talk to him immediately; wanting to know what was his real intention towards her sister.

She noticed that the apartment was not even close to being called fancy. It was more like in the verge of downfall and she couldn’t help but feel sorry about his state. Jenny said that he got kicked out of his family and got his inheritance taken away. She also heard that his friend suffered the same fate. But she tried stifling that feeling because she was not there to sit and talk with him about his life. She was there because she needs to sit and talk about her sister’s life.

She was checking out room numbers and finally found it, but instead of being shut close, the door was wide open. She heard some muttering inside and decided to listen at first because if they happen to have a visitor, then she’ll just come back later.

“Why the hell the door and all the windows are open?” A loud booming voice came from inside. She detected a hint that the speaker is under the influence with his voice. Since her friends always get drunk, she can easily tell whether a person is sane or not.

“If you hadn’t puke on the floor, on the table and anywhere that I can think of, then we wouldn’t have this conversation right now” somebody replied. At least the voice this time is really sober.

“Close it” ordered by the drunken guy.

Allie was about to silently sneaked away so she wouldn’t get caught but the reply stopped her,

“No, I won’t. For God’s sake, Brian, you’re drunk from here to Mars. Do you even know how hard it was cleaning up your vomit? Which I need to say, I won’t ever do again. If only you’re not my best friend then I’ll be gone by now” answered back by the other guy. At least now she knows that the drunken guy is Brian and there’s a high chance that the other guy is Rick Wilfred, previous heir of Mr. Mike and Sophie Wilfred, the famous owners of many Oil Industries.

There was a sound of something crashing, what? She knows not but the following words almost made her cry,

“Then why don’t you leave me? Why don’t you go and leave me here to die? I didn’t ask you to but you’re still here. If you want to go then feel free and look, the door is wide open” Brian shouted, rocking back in forth in his seat, unable to focused his gaze, “You’re all gonna leave me anyway. My parents, Jenny, and then now, you. I actually have no clue right now on how my life can be more worthless and pathetic that it currently is. Maybe I should just put a gun in my head and blow it up” he continued, laughing hysterically at the last sentence.

Rick looked at his friend and saw a total stranger. The old Brian was not there anymore. And Rick felt really bad that he let it happened. Maybe he can convince Brian that there are other things worth living for, because from what he knows, Brian might really take a gun and end his life,
