Phoenix is nearing one month old. We haven't had any encounters with walkers and our group is growing much more closer but Lucas is still an outcast. He doesn't associate with us often and will not go out on runs. Carl took him one time and he didn't kill the walker. He became weird and wouldn't move. We've been keeping an eye on him.

"Y/n, we're going out on a run, do you need anything?" I turn to see Carl standing in the doorway.

"Pineapples. That sounds so good." I smiled.

"Yeah, I'll grab some if I come across any still fresh." He winked and laughed at me. "Lucas is staying here as usual. Keep an eyes on him. Everyone else is going with me."

I nodded and looked back at my baby. She was so beautiful but this world is going to ruin her. I'm scared for her, she doesn't deserve this. She doesn't deserve to grow up in fear.

I walked downstairs with Phoenix in my arms and sat on the sofa next to Lucas. It was silent for a few minutes. He turned his head, examining me and the baby for awhile.

"You guys are so idiotic." He shook his head in shame.

"Excuse me?" I felt offended and I could feel my anger growing.

"You're killing these walkers but they're humans. They're just sick."

"So what do you want me to do when they try to kill me?" I said angrily.

"Run."

I rolled my eyes and walked to the kitchen. I glared out the window looking at the vast fields surrounding the house. It looks almost as if it's a normal world out there. Phoenix began to cry, it was nearing time for her feeding.

"Why don't you just kill her too? She's human and she's hungry but you don't kill her because she wants something to eat?" Lucas slowly stood up and advanced towards Phoenix and I. He pulled a knife from the back pocket and ran towards me. I dodged the knife.

He stood there, frozen in place. My eyes in total disbelief as to what just happened. "You just tried to kill my baby." I felt tears rolling down my face.

"I'm, I'm sorry. I don't know what got into me." He sat the knife on the table and slid it towards me and put both hands in the air. I grabbed the knife quickly and walked to him.

I put the knife up to his throat "If you ever fucking do that again, I WILL kill you. Don't think I'm joking, I will end you." I pushed it into his neck to give him a small cut. Little amounts of blood trickled from him neck and he shook his head.

Carl and the group returned and I needed to tell Carl about the ordeal from earlier. I laid Phoenix down in her crib and went to help bring things inside.

"Look what I found." Carl said while shaking a can of pineapples around in his hand.

I ran to him and hugged him. I took the pineapples into my hand and smiled. "I love you." I placed a small kiss on his cheek.

Later in the night we settled in and went to our rooms. I haven't told Carl about Lucas yet, and I don't know if I should. He will kill him, I already know that. Is it worth it to sleep with one eye open? Or should we just get rid of the problem right now? I checked to make sure the door was locked just in case he tries something.

I couldn't sleep. My mind was racing with thoughts. I didn't feel too good, I had a deep feeling that something bad was going to happen.

I was in a light sleep when I heard screaming coming from Lena's room. Carl and I sprung to action. I grabbed Phoenix and my gun and followed Carl out of the room. Carl ran into Lena's room to find her being devoured by a walker. He shot the walker in the head and I ran to Lena's side.

"Lena, honey, can you hear me?" my eyes swelled with tears. She was drowning in her own blood. It was the most horrific sound I've ever heard. She reached from my hand and held it tight, slowly she pointed at my gun. She wants me to kill her. I don't know if I can do it.

I looked into her eyes and I could see her suffering. I could see the pain in her eyes. I gave Phoenix to Carl and grabbed my gun and put it to her head. I can't do it. I took it back down and looked at her.

"I love you Lena. You're so strong. I'm so sorry." I placed a pillow over her head so she wouldn't know when I was going to pull the trigger, so the sound would be muffled, and so I wouldn't have to look at her while I did it. I pulled the trigger.

Her body stopped squirming and she went limp. I dropped the gun and put my head on her chest. "I'm so sorry."

"How the hell did the Walker even get in here!?" I heard Carl yelling downstairs.

"I locked all the doors before bed, when I did my rounds." Kaden said to Carl. I know he isn't lying because when I came down for water everything was locked. "He's not lying, I came down for water earlier and it was all locked. Someone let that walker in, or they went out and didn't shut the door behind them."
