Dating Jay

A few months after our first date we made things official between us. Only Erin knows that Jay and I are dating. I know that we will have to tell Voight at some point but we both wanted to make sure we are sure about us.
The last few days we have been working on a drug case. We're stood outside the building we are about to check, getting our vests on then Jay and put some hoodies on over the top

"Let me help" Jay says walking over to me
"Thanks" I turn my back to him so he can do my vest up
"Ok Halstead YLN your in first. Have each other's back"
"Got it" we both go to the front door "open up" Jay bangs on the door "come on open the door" I hold on to Jays arm pretending to look nervous. The door opens a little
"Who are you?" The guy we know to be Riz asks
"You Riz?" Jay asks not answering the man's question
"Who's asking. Who are you?"
"Look man word on the street is you deal the good stuff. My girl her has run out and is starting to go in withdrawal. I'm begging you to give her a fix" the door opens up a little more and Riz looks around
"You got money?" Jay nods in response showing a stack of cash "ok stay here" the door shuts in front of us
"Jay something feels off" I tell him looking around
"He's going to get the drugs once we hand the money over we make the arrest. We have Dawson and Lindsay as back up" I nod my head knowing Jay is right. We have our vests on, but the deal seems off. The door opens up but instead of drugs the man is holding a gun at Jays head
"Get inside" the man says Jay gets out his gun before I can get mine out
"Drop the gun. It's four against one right now so drop the gun" I warn Riz who just chuckles
"Drop the gun Riz" Jay warns again. He now points the gun at me. He shoots before running off thankfully hitting my vest
"Holy shit" I drop my gun and hold my stomach
"Shots fired. Dawson Riz is coming your way"
"Hey baby your gonna be ok"
"Yes I am but Jay you need to go clear the house. I'm not going anywhere" I joke
"Don't even joke about that" he shakes his head
"Suspect down" Jay and I hear in the radio. Voight then walks over to us
"YLN you ok?"
"I'm fine just winded" I tell him as Jay helps me sit up and starts to take my vest off
"I still want you to get checked out YN" Voight says "Halstead take her to Med" Jay nods helping me up
"I'm fine"
"Ba...YN come on boss said to get you checked out" he says and we start to walk away from Voight "and so does your boyfriend" Jay whispers to me so no one can here. I roll my eyes.

"Nothings broken, your just going to have one hell of a bruise there"
"Thanks Will" Jay pats his brother on his shoulder. Will gives Jay and I a smile before leaving us
"You nearly called me babe earlier. You need to be more careful"
"What if I don't want to be carful anymore" Jay says as he helps me off the bed
"Huh?" I frown "what are you saying?"
"I'm saying that I want to tell Voight about us. If we just ask for new partners then maybe neither of us will have to leave intelligence"
"Jay, Voight said..."
"I know what he said, but I also know how I feel about you" Jay places a hand on my face and leans in to peck my lips
"Ok"

We stand outside Voights office waiting for him to let us in
"Come in" taking a deep breath Jay and I enter "YN what did the hospital say"
"Nothing serious just some bruising"
"Great. Go write up your report..."
"Actually we both request new partners" Jay says for the both of us
"Why?" Voight frowns "I thought you got on well"
"A little to well" I mutter
"You didn't keep it in your pants did you?" Voight sighs "so you fucked now it's awkward, well that's tough..."
"No we're dating" I say "for two months now"
"Ok. This is what we're gonna do. Halstead your now with Lindsay, YLN your with Dawson from now on. Go inform your new partners"
"So we're still in intelligence"
"Yes as long as you keep love life and work life separate"
"Thank you" I smile
"Off you go" Jay and I leave Voights office smiling
"Well that went better than expected" I say going back to my desk.
