A= Aftercare After Birth (How they act after you finish giving birth?):

Matt is in a state of shock. The birth didn't go quite as planned but we're all ok. Matt checks on me every 10 minutes making sure that I'm ok while he walks around the room with our baby in his arms.

B= Baby (Who is the baby more like? The baby's personality?):

The baby is a good mix of us both. They cry a lot which is what I apparently did when I was born.

C= Care Taking (Who takes care of the baby more? Do you have someone else take care of the child?):

Before I go back to work I take care of the baby the most just to let Matt sleep as much as possible. However when I go back to work I drop the baby off at the daycare at the hospital and we then take turns in looking after the baby.

D= Delivery (How they act when you are in labor, do they stay in the room or outside the room?):

As I have to have a C-section he freaks out when I'm put under anaesthetic. Apparently he was pacing in the waiting room

E= Emergencies (How do they act when something happens to the baby? If something happens during labor how do they react?):

My labour started at home, which was completely unplanned. When I arrive at the hospital I'm told I'm going to have to have a natural birth, that is until we all realise my labour isn't progressing and I'm not getting past 6cm dilated. So when babies heart rate drops I'm rushed into the operating room.

F= Friends/Family (Who visits you in the hospital?):

Technically Will and Nat were the first to visit me because of my delivery. Next up was Kelly who we asked there and then to be godfather. Throughout my time in the hospital many people flitter in and out, my friends at the hospital Matts friends at the firehouse and also our friends at PD.

G= Gender(s) (What do you have?):

We have a baby boy that we named Oliver.

H= Hair Color (What hair color does the baby inherit):

Oliver was born with my hair colour but as he got older his hair turned more Matts colour.

I= Illness (How do they react when the baby gets sick for the first time? How about when the baby is ill for a while?):

Oliver didn't really get sick while he was a baby, other than spitting up on the odd occasion. At 2 years old was when Oliver got very poorly, he caught scarlet fever while at nursery and ended up in the hospital. Both Matt and I were terrified for our little boy. Thankfully he was ok and we were able to bring him home fairly quickly.

J= Job (When do you go back to work?):

I went back to work a year after having Oliver. I was so lucky not only to have Matt but also still having Kelly live with us was a huge help.

K= Kisses (Do they kiss the baby?):

Yes of course. He always kisses his head in the morning, at night, before he goes to work and when he comes back home.

L= Love (Do they fall in love with the baby right away? What do they love the most about the baby?):

It took a while to actually accept that we were having a baby. But the moment Oliver arrived it was instant love for the both of us. We were finally able to relax.

M= Movement (How do they react to baby first crawling and walking?):

Before Oliver started crawling Matt would put him on his hands and knees then sit in front of him calling his name. He would sigh when Oliver flopped down and rolled over so that he could sit up, but the day that Oliver did start crawling was when we were all at the firehouse. I had sat Oliver on the floor so he could scoot about, but in the end he started crawling as soon as he saw Kelly. Matt was a mixture of excised and upset that Oliver didn't crawl to him. Gabby reminded him that he still had the chance to get Oliver to walk to him.

N= New People (Taking baby to meet the rest of their/your work colleagues.):

Everyone came to visit me in the hospital so they go to meet Oliver pretty early on. We first took him though to the firehouse when he was a month old.

O= On Time (Are they there by time you go into labor? Do they arrive before or after the baby is born? How do they feel if they are late? Is the baby on time?):

When I went into labour Matt was working, but because I was early we didn't think I would be going into labour. Thankfully Matt arrived to the hospital just as I was having to be put under so I could have an emergency C-section.

P= Pain (How do they react to seeing you in pain due to the contractions? How do they handle seeing you in pain during labor?):

He didn't see me in much pain but he saw how worried I was that something was wrong because I went into labour early. He did his best to calm me down though and hold my hand while I drifted off to sleep.

Q= Questions (Do they ask the midwife a lot of questions? Do they keep asking if they are doing something right when they are doing something with the baby?):

Apparently he would ask every nurse or doctor he saw passing by if I was ok and I'd the baby was ok.

R= Resting (Do they get a lot of rest when the baby is born? Do they stay awake at night worrying about the baby?):

Not at first. Neither of us do. We're both so scared that if we look away for even a second that something will happen. Luck these new parent worries only last us a couple of weeks.

S= Singing to the Baby (Do they sing to the baby, or do they listen to you sing to the baby? What is their favorite song to sing to the baby?):

Matt and I both sing to the baby, mainly nursery rhymes. Our favourite song to sing is rock a bye baby or hush little baby. When Matt sings to Oliver it brings tears to my eyes.

T= Talking to the Baby (Do they use baby talk?):

Matt is always talking to Oliver, he does actually use a baby voice which is super cute and kinda funny as well.

U= Underneath the Man/Woman's Heart (How do they truly feel about having a child? Do they feel as though they are ready for a baby?):

Matt is truly over the moon to have a baby, so am I. During the pregnancy we didn't really allow ourselves to get attached so when we did finally get to meet the little one, we then realised we weren't ready in the slightest.

V= Vision as in Supervision (Do they keep a close eye on the baby? Do they have someone watching the baby at all times?):

When Oliver was a newborn we were both worried about him and only allowed each other to watch the baby. However as we got more comfortable and he started going to nursery we had to just trust people.

W= When the Baby is Born (What day is the baby born. Are they off work? At work?):

Matt is at work the day Oliver was born, but thankfully got to see his baby boy after he was born. It was a Thursday when Oliver arrived.

X= X-mas (What's their first Christmas like?):

Oliver was spoilt rotten his first Christmas. All all our friends at fire, med and pd bought something for him.

Y= Yawning (How tired do they get when dealing with the baby? Their reaction to the baby yawning?):

Anytime Oliver yawns it makes Matt and I yawn.

Z= ZZZ (How much sleep after the baby is born?):

At first not a lot, but after 6ish months we all sleep super well.
