Worries

As it's been getting closer to the birth we have been buying more baby things like the crib and painting the babies room. Ella has started to cry a lot but won't say what the problem is although it's kinda obvious that is because of the baby. Today is Ella's birthday, she's turning 8 so we have a birthday party planned. All of Ella's school friends are over and our family at 21, 51 and Med have all come over. Right now I'm sat with Ella, Will, Jay and Kelly eating pizza
"Are you guys ready?" Kelly asks
"I think so. We've got everything, just need little one to arrive" Will rubs my hug stomach
"Are you excited to be a big sister Ella?" Kelly ruffles her hair but she just shrugs
"Mom can I go to the toilet"
"Course you can. Do you want someone to go with you or are you ok?"
"I'm ok" Ella gets up and leaves us adults. I sigh feeling tears start to form
"She was so excited to be a big sister, but the last few weeks she just been getting upset"
"Hey it's a big change for her. A lot has happened in the last few years. She can be excited but also worried" Jay frowns. I wipe my eyes as Will places an arm over my shoulder
"Jays right. She's talk to you guys when she's ready" Kelly gives me a small smile.

At the end of the day everyone leaves the house, leaving me Will and Ella to tidy up
"Let me do this. You go and sit down" Will says as I groan feeling the baby kick me
"Thanks" I hand over the plates in my hand and go sit down on our couch. Ella comes over to me and sits down looking sad
"Mom when the baby comes will you forget about me?"
"Oh Ella" I sigh pulling her to me "is this why you've been upset a lot?" I ask and Ella nods her head yes
"That's not got to happen" Will walks over and sits down. Ella crawls over and sits on his lap "look having a baby brother or sister will be different, you'll have to share mom and me, but I promise you that we will not forget about you"
"Ella we both love you very much and will never forget you. We will need you to help you know"
"With what?" Ella asks
"Well you'll have to give the baby cuddles so moms arms can rest, you could change diapers if you want and most importantly you will have to help mom by giving her loads of cuddles and kisses because she's going to be very tired"
"Why will she be tired?"
"Both Will and I will be tired because babies cry a lot at night. You did when you were little and it was only me then so I used to get up every few hours to feed you and change you. I used to fall asleep at work" Ella starts laughing "but you were the best thing to have happened to me and if it wasn't for you I probably wouldn't have met Will and we wouldn't be having a baby"
"I love you mom"
"I love you too" I kiss her head "after baby is born maybe we can put some time aside at night time and we could read a book together?"
"I'd like that mom"
"Ok. Why don't we tidy up tomorrow and for now we can watch a film. You choose"
"Cinderella?" She asks looking at me
"Cinderella it is. Go grab some blankets and I'll get it set up for us"
"I'll get some popcorn going" Ella gets off Wills lap, while I get the film up.
