We left Northshire after dropping Garrick Padfoot off to Marshall McBride, who then told us to go and seek out Marshal Dughan in Goldshire. We received 100 gold, which I learned was a lot around here, and divided it between us, leaving 25 gold to spare for expenses such as a room at the inn, food, and flight paths. The cool thing about there being no gods here is that I can travel safely by air now.
We made our way to Goldshire.
"So, what do we do for money?" I asked.
"Well, there are tons to do. The best way to earn coin is with professions such as mining , skinning, herbalism, alchemy, blacksmithing. tailoring, enchanting, and leatherworking," Aurelius replied.
We walked along the old cobblestone road, simply taking in the beauty of Elwynn forest and breathing in the fresh air. The place felt magical.
"By the light! I hope the guild Moonguard isn't at the Lion's Pride Inn today. Bunch of weirdos," Aurelius grumbled. I half expected Desmond to whack Aurelius over the head, but to my surprise, he nodded and silently agreed with his friend. I learned a lot about the two in our short time together.
Aurelius was an orphan, although he didn't go into much detail about what lead him to be one, but he said that when he was ten, he was a street urchin, and he found the brawlers guild to fight for sport. This would explain the chip on his shoulder. He's been on his own for a long time, he can be resourceful, and does what it takes to not only win, but survive. He learned how to wield a sword at the guild just to make enough coin to eat. One time, Aurelius tried to steal from a noblemen who happened to be Desmond's father. He was a veteran of the 2nd war, and for his courage in battle was granted Nobility. For some reason, though, Desmond's father took pity and adopted him. Desmond wasn't around most of the time, however, because his mother was a scholar and saw his affinity for the light. She sent him to the Cathedral to study in the ways of the light and nurture his affinity for it.
Nevertheless, Desmond didn't like life at the Cathedral, so he abandoned his studies and ran away to be an adventurer in search of freedom. Desmond's father was worried, so he told Aurelius to go find him, and that if he couldn't bring him back to always protect him, no matter what. The two got on each other's nerves because they were total opposites. Desmond was polite and proper, but wants to be free. Aurelius was crass, and he wouldn't deescalate situations; he'd throw gasoline on fires. In spite of this, he always had Desmond's back, and he would give someone the shirt off his back, or, in my case, a sword to protect myself with. They couldn't be more different.
I really enjoyed their company. I think I've found good friends, which is not bad for my first day on this planet. We walked into the center of a little town where there were two buildings that stood out from the rest of the cluster. One of these buildings was a large house with a striking blue shingled roof that people could be heard talking from. A sign was hanging over the top of the arched entrance that read, "THE LIONS PRIDE INN."
