Frogolir must've been joking when he said we were "burnin daylight." I could barely see anything out here. This dark road was more like a cave, lanterns illuminating the path every 5 to 10 feet. " Light above I hate this place." Aurelius whispered. " Why're ye whisperin' bud?" Frogolir asked. "I don't know, I just feel like we shouldn't draw attention to ourselves here." He said with an edge of fear in his voice. 'That's it I'm over this place.' I thought, if Aurelius was feeling freaked out it didn't make me feel any better. He usually was one of the people that swallowed fear or worry better, well unless he pissed Desmond or Zoe off.
I swear I could see the outline of shadows flying through the trees off the side of the road, but it must have been my imagination. A howl of a wolf could be heard in the distance.
"At Least there are wolves in the forest, that's pretty normal right?" I asked. Zeinnor furrowed his brow and looked at Satorn. "By Elune's light, we'd better hope they are just wolves." My eyes widened as I was about to ask, but I figured sometimes not knowing was better.
All I knew was the more I was in this place, the more I missed Goldshire. I'd rather deal with Moonguard than be here. Just when I thought the visibility couldn't be any worse it started to absolutely pour down. "You've got ta be jokin!" Frogolir exclaimed. "I can't see bloody shit out ere!" I took a deep breath in, and then out. Finally, I felt the rain start to hit my head, and soak my hair. It was kinda funny, at this point in my life it was harder to get soaked by the rain than to stop it from hitting me.
As we made our way further down the path, Zeinnor stopped suddenly, his eyes growing wide as he stared off to the right. He extended his arms either way, stopping us from moving any further. "Don't... move." Zeinnor whispered, a hint of worry in his voice. Satorn gasped as she glared off to the direction Zeinnor was facing. I followed both of their gazes, and was met with a pair of glowing gold eyes off to the side of the road. What was maybe 30 feet away from us, sat a dark, hulking form, covered by the shadows and fog. "Is- is that..." her voice trailed off, filled with fear. "Worgen... those are worgen." Zeinnor whispered in response.
"Those?" said Aurelius "I only see one... pair... of..." his voice trailed off "ahhh shit..". I could tell he regretted saying anything, as two more sets of eyes appeared next to the first. As they began to get closer, I could hear growling, and sniffing. But worse, I could begin to see them. Hulking, wolflike beast's standing on their hind legs, at least 8 feet tall it seemed.
As the three wolflike beings, these "Worgen", got closer, I met their gaze, putting on my best wolf stare in hopes it would scare them off. It did not. I started thinking about the best way to deal with this situation, how fast could I grab my sword and swing it before those beasts had fully jumped us. After all these certainly weren't the first pack of monsters I've had the displeasure of dealing with.
Suddenly, everything got quiet. Really quiet, to the point where you could've heard a coin drop a mile away. The rain stopped falling, the bugs in the forest stopped chirping, and the worgen stopped in their tracks, all their heads turning to their rights, the way we were going. They began snarling at something off in the distance. And then, I felt it. The rumble of the earth beneath us, as if a giant was barreling toward us at full speed. I looked down at the ground, and saw a puddle vibrating, shaking, violently.
As I looked ahead into the distant fog, I've never been more pissed about being right. A large, round figure was making its way towards us, unnaturally fast. "What in Light's name..." Frogolir said. "To the side" I heard Zeinnor murmured. "What?" Frogolir responded. "The side!" Satorn responded, in a very loud whisper. Aurelius was frozen in absolute horror staring at the figure lumbering towards us before falling to his knees. Zeinnor and I each grabbed an arm, and yanked him to the side of the road, into the bushes.
