They got back to the Tardis at the agreed time. Mikey and Ray and Rose chattering to each other along the way.
Gerard was still sadly contemplating on the poignant moment.
"I should write something for him" he said the Frank "for his father. They deserve it."
Frank agreed.
"Hello you horrible lot!" Said the Doctor cheerily "I dealt with the Krankiek. Did you have a nice time?"
"Yeahh" Said Rose
"We saw a marching band!" Said Ray
Mikey shrugged
"What's on your mind Mikey boy?" Asked the Doctor.
"Just thinking about the time warp" said Mikey as they went back into the Tardis
"Want to meet Richard O'Brien?" Asked the Doctor
"No- well, yes but not right now. No, what I meant is..."
He had everyone's attention now, they were all looking at him curiously.
"Well you know how we're gonna have a time tour?"
The others nodded
"And you know how we once went to warped tour"
"Go on" pressed Frank
"Well, listening to the time warp got me thinking... What about TIME-WARPED TOUR"
"Huuhhhhhhh" Gasped everyone, perplexed.
"We could have like a warped tour, through space and time! Invite tonnes of other bands like Fall Out Boy ect... What do you think?"
"Uhhhhh..." shrugged the others
"Mikey I dunno..."
"Yeah" agreed the Doctor "I'm not sure about having a million other companions in the Tardis, she doesn't take kindly to everyone you know"
"Ugh whatever" pouted Mikey "it was just an idea. You guys are so boring"
"Well I thought it was a brilliant idea" Said Rose, putting her arm around him.
"R-really" Mikey blushed
"Yeah why not" said Rose "sounds like a blast"
"I mean it sounds fun" agreed Frank "but I'm not sure how realistic it is"
The others nodded their heads enthusiastically
"Yeah yeah exactly what he said"
"Sorry Mikey"
Mikey sighed "I just wanted to see Pete" he mumbled.
"Is that the really hot one from Fall Out Boy?" Asked Rose
"Yeah" Mikey giggled, turning pink.
The others got on with fiddling with the Tardis while Mikey and Rose chatted with each other.
No one paid Mikey much notice when he was on stage. He was just the bassist, arguably the heart of the band? Sure. But did anyone else seem to realise that? Hardly ever.
He wasn't confident like Gerard or crazy like Frank, he didn't grin happily at the audience like Ray, or writhe about on the floor.
He just stood quietly towards the back, laying out the rhythm without breaking a sweat.
Offstage it wasn't much different, he was always just 'Gerard's little brother'. The only person who paid him any attention was Ray, and that was only because he kind of fancied him.
So it was a welcome surprise to find a friend in Rose. She was everything he wasn't, cool, confident, beautiful.
He found himself almost jealous of her, her magical life with the Doctor. It was like she was living out all his favourite comics.
For Rose it wasn't such a big deal, she found it easy to get along with people. And Mikey was sweet anyway, he was a bit awkward and nerdy but she liked that. He reminded her a bit of the Doctor in that way.
Speaking of which-
"Hey Doctor, where we going?"
"Hm?" The Doctor looked up from the dashboard, his hair spiked up at odd angles. Rose smothered her smile, poking her tongue out between her teeth.
"Oh yeah, Gerard didn't want to go far for the first gig. Just '89"
"Nineteen 89?" Confirmed Rose
"Yup!" He said absentmindedly. "We thought we'd try California"
