As I had promised Baekhyun by Hanukkah, I invited all of SuperM over for Tu B'Shvat. Tu B'Shvat is not a well known Jewish holiday but it is the birthday of the trees. I laughed at the face Ten made when I said we typically eat fruits from the seven species on this day. "Don't worry." I told him. "I prepared jelly fruits as well."
The first fruit I brought out was a pomegranate. "I know what that is," Kai said. "It's a chinese apple."
"It is known as that as well but it's called a pomegranate," I told him. I opened it up and they marveled at the seeds inside. I gave them all some, even Ten, as he had never had it before, and most of them liked it.
Next, I brought over cookies. One of the seven species is wheat. Ten looked very happy with the cookies and ate more than anyone else.
The next fruit I brought out was dates. "This is my favorite fruit," I told them as I handed each of them two freeze dried dates. They all asked for more but I couldn't give them any more.
I brought, next, grapes. Lucas looked weirdly at the grapes before saying "All the other fruits were exotic. This one is so normal." "I'm just serving the seven species," I told him, "and this is one of them."
I brought out the figs next but they weren't that popular, so I quickly brought out the olives which were gone in minutes.
They looked at me when I didn't go to get the seventh thing. "What is it?" Baekhyun asked.
"Barley," I said, "and I couldn't find anything with barley so..." I went back into the kitchen and brought out a whole fruit platter. "Enjoy guys."
"I can't wait to see what the next holiday is," I heard Taeyong say as they were leaving.
"You'll find out soon," I told him. "It's in about a month." And with that I started planning what I would do with them for Purim.
