"Hey guys," I said opening the door. "Do you guys remember what Rosh Hashana was about?"
"It was about asking God for a good year!" Taeyong said excitedly.
"Exactly," I said. "Tonight continuing on until tomorrow night, 25 hours in total, is the holiday of Yom Kippur in which God seals the decision He made on Rosh Hashana. On this day we are considered Angels and therefore we do not eat, drink, bathe, smear creams, or wear leather shoes. That is also why we I told you guys to wear white and to bring food."
They stood before me holding their food dressed in nice White suits. "How do you survive 25 hours without food and drink?" Lucas asked. "It's not hard," I told him. "I'm in the synagogue the whole day so there's no food in the first place."
They looked at me incredulousmy. "You must be superwoman," Ten commented.
I brought them to the synagogue and had them sit near me for the prayers so I could show them where we were. The night prayers were soon over and we went home and went to bed. In the morning, I had them eat breakfast and then we headed to the synagogue again for a whole day of prayers.
After two hours Baekhyun and Kai started to get antsy and Mark said "I'm so bored." I sent them back to my house and told them to eat and have fun and come back at 6:00 at Night for the final and most important prayer of the holiday, Ne-ila. They did exactly that. The holiday was almost over.
Not long after that, the final shofar was sounded signaling the sealing of God's verdict and Him returning to His heavenly throne. Then everyone sang Next year in Jerusalem and we all headed home for the break-fast meal.
"You guys only have one holiday left to learn about, I told them, "and it starts in three days. I'll see you guys then." They nodded and headed out the door. I went up to the roof of my apartment and started building my sukka for Sukkot which was in three days.
