"2! 3! All is well." The cameras shut off and the smile fell off of Jaehyun's face. He left the room and headed for his drum set where he sat for an hour doing nothing.
Chahun, sitting in the other room sighed. This was a new thing that had started recently. When the cameras were rolling, Jaehyun was his usual upbeat self, but the second they stopped the smile dropped and he turned into a potato. It has started one day during the hiatus of 2Idiots and Chahun didn't know why. When he tried to figure it out, Jaehyun shut down and wouldn't talk. Something had happened but Chahun couldn't figure it out, so he talked to the rest of the group.
"Something's up with Jaehyun," Chahun said.
"I noticed," Hweseung responded. "I don't know what's up with him."
"Should I talk to him?" Seunghyub asked. Chahun shook his head. "I already tried that. He shut down."
"Should we do something?" Dongsung asked.
"Duh," Hweseung said. "That's why we're here. The question is what should we do?" No one was able to think of anything.
Meanwhile, Jaehyun, who was still sitting by his drum set, overheard their conversation and sighed. He took out his phone and texted his best friend since childhood. "I need to talk to you." His friend texted him back quickly and they set up to meet in a restaurant later that night.
When they met, Jaehyun unburdened himself to his friend. "I need your advice," he told him. "You know my band mates. I've been rude and standoffish recently and they're hurt but I don't know how to tell them my problem. I'm scared and so I shut them out and it's only making everything worse. They're all worried about me which makes me feel guilty."
"What is your problem?" His friend asked.
Jaehyun paused before looking down at the table and mumbling something. "I didn't hear what you said," his friend said. Jaehyun's eyes teared up and he mumbled again. "You need to speak up. I can't hear you and if I can't hear you I can't help you." Jaehyun played with his hands as he looked straight into his friends eyes, a tear escaping. "I'm gay," he said clearly and looked back down at his hands as even more tears escaped his eyes and fell on his pants.
"Hey Jaehyun, why are you crying?" His friend moved to sit next to him.
"I'm scared. I haven't told anyone yet. I'm scared I'm going to be kicked out of the company. One of my other friends was kicked out of her school and a summer camp job because of the same thing, (A/N This "friend" of his is referring to me) and I like someone, but I don't want him to hate me." Jaehyun was really crying at this point. His friend guided him to his car and brought him to his house. He comforted him and reassured him the whole night.
In the morning, Jaehyun's phone rang, walking both of them from their one hour of sleep. Jaehyun picked it up, saw that it was Chahun calling, and answered. "What's up?" He asked.
"Where were you last night. You never came back to the dorm."
"I was out."
"I know that. Where?"
"With my friend from when I was young."
"Are you heading back soon? We have practice."
Jaehyun sighed. "I'll be there soon." He looked towards his friend apologetically. "Thank you. I have to head out now. I have practice." His friend nodded before giving him advice. "You should tell them," he started. "They're all worried about you and I doubt they'd care about it in the way that you're afraid of. Is anything does happen, let me know. I'll take care of you." Jaehyun nodded and hugged his friend before hearing out to practice.
During the practice, they all noticed how distracted Jaehyun seemed. "How long did you sleep last night?" Dongsung asked him. When he replied with "one hour" he was immediately brought home by Chahun who made sure he got to sleep. As he was leaving Jaehyun's room, Jaehyun, in his half asleep state, pulled him into his bed and snuggled into his chest. Chahun, stunned, stayed there, eventually falling asleep as well.
When Jaehyun woke up, he saw Chahun lying next to him and smiled. He closed his eyes for a few more minutes until Chahun woke up. Chahun turned and saw the smile on Jaehyun's face, something he hadn't seen for a while. He slowly sat up and Jaehyun opened his eyes. "Did you sleep well?" Chahun asked. Jaehyun nodded and sighed happily, the smile still on his face. Chahun saw that he was at ease and decided again to ask what was up and immediately regretted it.
The smile quickly left his face and the frown returned. He clammed up and walked out of the room. The brief moment of pleasure and contentedness that he had had was gone.
"Why am I so stupid?" Chahun asked himself. He went up to his room, lay on his bed, and cried. He was in pain because Jaehyun was in pain and not only that, he realized, he liked Jaehyun, as more than a friend.
Two months passed. Jaehyun continued to draw into himself while Chahun tried to get good attention, each acting the opposite of their natural personalities. Seeing Jaehyun like this pained Chahun and all he wanted was to make whatever was bothering him go away. If only he could figure out what it was.
Jaehyun's friend saw what was going on, put two and two together, and decided to do something. He called Jaehyun and brought him out to the park before ditching him there, telling him that he would be right back. He has left a note in the fridge for Chahun saying meet me in the park at 7:45. Chahun ran, thinking the note was from Jaehyun, because why would it be signed Jaehyun if someone else wrote it?
He got to the park and saw Jaehyun sitting on the bench and joined him. "What are you doing here?" Jaehyun asked.
"What do you mean? You left me a note."
Jaehyun's phone dinged and he looked down at it. "Enjoy," His friend has texted and he immediately knew his friend had set it up. "So what do you want to do?" Jaehyun asked awkwardly. "Let's go to Everland," Chahun jumped up. Jaehyun agreed and they took a taxi.
Throughout the day, Jaehyun let his guard down and enjoyed himself. Pretty soon the day was coming to an end. Jaehyun ran ahead to the Ferris wheel, the final ride for the day. Once they got in the ride, the mood turned serious. "I need to tell you something Chahun."
"What is it?"
Jaehyun paused for a while, looking at the view before saying what had been weighing on his mind for the last few months. "I'm gay." Chahun started at him for so long that Jaehyun curled up in a ball on the seat up there in the sky and started crying. Chahun immediately jumped up, swaying the boat they were in, and enveloped Jaehyun in a hug. Jaehyun hugged him back, sobbing into his shoulder. Slowly, he calmed down and by the time the ride came to an end, he was back to normal.
Once they got back to the dorm, the two went to Jaehyun room to talk. "So... your gay" Chahun started. Jaehyun nodded. "Is that why you were so distant recently?"
"I was scared."
"Of what?"
"Everyone and everything. I was afraid of losing you guys and losing my job and my fans and everything."
"You won't lose us Jaehyun. We are here for you no matter what. You should know, I myself am bisexual."
"Really?" Jaehyun asked, his eyes lighting up. "Do you like someone?"
"You," Chahun mumbled quietly but Jaehyun heard him. "Me?" He asked. Note it was chains turn to be awkward. He looked down at his hands before nodding. The next thing he knew, he was on his back with Jaehyun on top of him, kissing him. After his momentary shock, he kissed back. "I like you too," Jaehyun mumbled into the kiss.
When they finally pulled apart and stared into each other's eyes, they both started crying. "Will you be my boyfriend?" Jaehyun asked. Chahun nodded and went in for another kiss. The two smiled at each other and walked out of the room. They had news to break to the rest of the band mates.
A/N I have one more pride story for next week. I hope you enjoyed this one and happy pride month!!!
