"What's going on?" Miracle eyed Xavier and I suspiciously.
I took a deep breath. "I really don't know how to say it, so I'll just say it . . . I need you not to be mad at me and let me explain."
"Yes?"
"I'm your mother."
Her face seemed shocked as her brain was processing. "Wow, congratulations on your engagement."
I looked down feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. "Xavier go to the door, Miracle let me try this again-."
"NO! I'm no fool, I know exactly what you're saying!" She said voice breaking towards the end.
"Miracle, I'm so so-."
"Save it, all my life I've felt rejected, that I don't meet society's normal standards and I never cared! Do you know what I always did care about . . . wondering why my mother didn't want me." She said allowing a single tear to escape her face, it broke my heart.
"I always wanted you."
"No, you didn't. You kept Rose but when you looked at me . . . just like everyone else you recoiled. I deal with whispers and stares everyday and that's ok, but even my own mother. HAVEN'T I GIVEN ENOUGH!"
"Miracle, I LOVE YOU! You're my child and I LOVE YOU more than anything. I gave you away to Xavier and kept it a secret, because when I saw you and Rose that day in the hospital I fell in love and I knew I couldn't take that away from him. I had to keep it a secret because I was heartbroken and couldn't face your father. I'm sorry Miracle."
The emotions began to overwhelm me causing me to drop to my knees in tears. Xavier quickly came to console me. I allowed myself to melt into his embrace.
Miracle took a step closer to me, I slowly pulled away from Xavier looking her in the eyes.
"For a long time, the assumption I had about my mother was the only thing that could effect my cold heart and it was not a good one. You've managed to change that outlook. I can see this wasn't easy and Rose has made me soft in these few days we've been her. I forgive you mother."
Relief washed over me, I could never stand my children harboring anger against me.
"Thank you Miracle, that was very mature of you."
She smiled a smile I've never seen before, my little girl was brilliant. "I get it from my mother."
I was trying to respect her boundaries but I couldn't stop myself from wrapping her in the tightest hug.
"So are we like a family now?" Rose asked.
"Yea, I think we are." Xavier said.
Rose smiled and jumped for joy. "I have a twin sister!"
"Rose, how many times do I have to tell you to take it down a couple of levels." I scolded.
"Sorry Mom."

It was the next day and my final period for botanical science which had Miracle in it were wrapping up.
"You guys see the new girl." A boy by the name of Jordan asked.
I discreetly listened in as I collected homework. "Which one the goth or the hot dirty blonde?" Another student named Caleb asked.
"The hot dirty blonde, I'm going to try and get her to go out with me I hear she's easy."
I could feel the anger rising, but I kept my cool for professional reasons. I walked back over to my desk deciding to take another approach.
"Jordan, Caleb you two seem to be in a talkative mood, care to share?"
They were frozen. "I thought so, hopefully you were discussing how to raise those F's you two have, if not get back on task."
