Donghyuck was running his hands underneath cool water in the bathroom sink, watching as the swelling goes down. Usually pain could be felt from a soulmate and marks could appear, but then go away after a few minutes.

Though, the pain could sometimes be unbearable depending on what it was: something as small as a paper cut to as big as a bullet wound.

"Hyuck, are you okay?" Jaemin entered the bathroom at the same time as Donghyuck turned the water off to dry his hands.

"Yeah...it doesn't hurt any more," Donghyuck admitted with a sigh and walked out of the bathroom with Jaemin following.

Jaemin could tell his best friend was exhausted even after all the sleep he had gotten in the past twenty four hours.

While they were on their way to Donghyuck's grandparents house this morning, Donghyuck was telling Jaemin what happened and how Mark was in fact his soulmate.

Donghyuck was not too happy to admit that, Jaemin could see it written all over his face.

"You know how you told me Mark was your soulmate?" Jaemin recalled as Donghyuck dramatically gagged hearing the older's name.

"Well he was the one who helped heal your cut," Jaemin told him as Donghyuck shrugged his shoulders.

"I'd rather bleed out to death than have him save me," Donghyuck scoffed, tying his apron around his waist.

Jaemin bit his lip with a frown.

"I know you hate him...but he's your soulmate," Jaemin reminded as Donghyuck raised a brow at him.

"So what?" Donghyuck sassed.

All Jaemin was thinking about was what Jeno and Mark told him: how Mark would never hurt his soulmate and would protect him with everything he had.

But it seemed like Donghyuck did not want to hear any of this right now so he will leave it be.

"Never mind," Jaemin dismissed.

For the rest of the week, there had been a few incoming customers. Jaemin, during this time, had been keeping contact with Jeno—finding that he has an attraction for the older.

It was strange but Jaemin did mot mind the feeling. In fact, Jeno and Jaemjn were going to meet up during the weekend.

Jaemin was praying that Jeno was his soulmate because he knew he was not feeling these feelings for no reason.

On the other hand for Donghyuck, getting through the week was torture.

Donghyuck had been feeling Mark's pain throughout the entire week and it made him confused.

He wanted to know what Mark was going through and what he was doing for Donghyuck to be constantly feeling his pain.

Why was Mark constantly getting some type of injury?

It made hin stop to think if Mark was doing this on purpose too because he did say he would make his life hell when he first revealed them being soulmates.

This made Donghyuck scowl and scoff at the thought. If Mark wanted to play this way, he could too even if it means putting himself in a dangerous situation.

Was this a stupid idea?

Absolutely.

But was Donghyuck still petty and would he do anything to get back at Mark?

Yes, yes indeed would.

Donghyuck was exhausted, probably because he needed his soulmate's touch right now but he refused to go out to find him.

Mark was cold, scary, and even creepy. How the hell did the older have information on Donghyuck's whereabouts before? And is it possible that he knows more?

The thought of this sent shivers down Donghyuck's spine and he also felt irritated because of the invasion of privacy.

It was crazy how Mark made him feel so many feelings at once: anger, annoyance, attraction, apprehension...

Yet Donghyuck only fixated on his hatred for the older, pushing away the obvious fear he had for Mark that he tried to mask.

Donghyuck was currently on a FaceTime call with Jaemin as he was exiting his grandparents house after having fed them and helped them to sleep.

Walking underneath the street lights, Donghyuck could not help but feel like he was being followed. Ever since the incident at the pub, Donghyuck has been feeling a little panicky and over the edge.

Jaemin was hesitant on leaving Donghyuck to check on his grandparents alone after work, but the older had constantly assured that he was okay even though he was not.

Jaemin could tell so he had sent a message to Jeno to tell Mark about Donghyuck's recent state. He had a weird feeling in his gut and he felt better alerting Mark so that he was on his way.

Donghyuck thought he heard footsteps behind him, taking a quick look over his shoulder and glancing side to side only to find no one there.

"Hyuck, what's going on? Are you okay?" Jaemin caught the older's attention through the phone, Donghyuck now looking at the screen with a convincing smile.

"Everything is okay. I'll be home in a little bit," Donghyuck assured as he continued walking after pausing for a few seconds to look around again.

He suddenly felt unsafe and he did not understand why. Maybe he was scared someone like the guy at the pub would come and attack him again.

But he should not be worried right? It was the goal anyway to be caught. Though, it was all in his head and his brain was messing with him right now because the chances of it actually happening were pretty low.

"You can tell me if you're scared," Jaemin pouted as Donghyuck let out a soft chuckle. "You don't have to hide anything from me because I'd never judge you."

"I know, Jaemin. I'm alright. I'm just in my head right now but no worries," Donghyuck stated as Jaemin nervously hummed, staying on the phone with Donghyuck and never ending the call.

Even though he was scared, there was a better chance of him getting attacked while he was without Jaemin so he took his time walking with the younger worried on the phone.

Is Donghyuck bring stupid right now? Yes, so there is no longer a need for rhetorical questions resulting in obvious answers.

He felt eyes on him and small footsteps behind him but every time he would turn around, he would see no one.

"-ghyuck Donghyuck!" Jaemin called out, seeing someone standing behind Donghyuck in the camera which made him worried. "Behind you!"

Donghyuck had been too lost in his own thoughts to even notice what Jaemin was saying until the very last second.

Fortunately, Mark was on his way but Donghyuck did not know that.

And before Donghyuck could turn around to look at who was behind him that Jaemin was warning him about, a dirty cold hand was cupping his mouth as his arms were being detained—making him drop and crack his phone.
