As soon as they arrive back to the U base, Mark was rushed out of the van by his older brother Taeyong carrying him inside.

Chenle ran inside first through the automatic sliding doors, washing his hands and putting on gloves to prepare himself for his boss.

Taeyong placed Mark on the hospital table for operation.

Taeil and Kun arrived as well to help the youngest doctor perform the surgical procedure to remove the bullet in Mark's arm.

"Sorry, sir. But you have to leave while we work on him. Mark will be just fine," Taeil calmly spoke but Taeyong did not budge.

His arms were folded over his chest as he paced around the room.

"Sir...please," Taeil remained calm as Taeyong's fingers reached his own hair, pulling it in frustration. "We need a clear workspace and later we're gonna have Donghyuck come in to heal him with their soulmate bond."

Taeyong groaned.

"Fine, fine," Taeyong finally left the room.

No one could blame him. It was his brother injured in there and it was only reasonable for Taeyong to react this way.

It may always seem like Taeyong never liked his brother and whatnot but that was never the case.

In fact, Taeyong always felt intimated by Mark which is why he felt like he needed to work extra hard to continue earning their father's approval when they were younger.

He wanted the relationship Mark had with their mother...a relationship he never got to have because he was stuck doing mafia work.

Then she died and Taeyong was angry at their father and there was a piece him inside that was angry at Mark too.

But for what?

For nothing at all.

Taeyong was jealous and upset because Mark got to spend their mother's last few moments together.

Mark and their mother had such a strong connection, a relationship that no one could break no matter what.

Taeyong knew their mother loved him as well but it was obvious that she and Mark were closer.

But that was Taeyong's fault.

No, scratch that.

It was their father's fault for dragging him—dragging them both eventually—into the mafia world at such a young age which resulted in him never being able to spend time with his mother or younger brother.

But Taeyong never put a stop to and he never tried to have a relationship with his younger brother so he was at fault for this part.

The two of them could have been close, but Taeyong knew Mark hated him and how could he blame him?

He was a piece of shit brother that was their father's pet basically.

Taeyong had always loved Mark, even though their petty fights were annoying and they would get angry with each other.

In all actuality, Taeyong looked up to Mark.

His younger brother has such a big heart and he was so empathetic. It was something Taeyong wished he was more like.

Taeyong wished he could see the good in people the way Mark did...but their father ruined that not only for him, but for Mark as well and Taeyong felt so guilty.

Everything was out of love and concern for Mark..Taeyong just wanted what was best for him and what would be the safest option.

And he knew that the things he may have said might come out harsh and hurtful, but he could not help it.
