It took me, Keaton, and Everett quite a while to put away all of my new stuff. I was pleased to find that the closet was a small walk-in, so everything fit just fine.
After we were done, all I wanted to do was crawl into bed. But Everett insisted that I eat something first, so he brought up a plate with steak, mashed potatoes, and salad. It was delicious, just like everything Everett makes.
As I finish eating, Everett swoops in to take my plate.
"You guys should get some sleep now. You've been up for a long time." Everett tells me and Keaton.
"Hey, I was thinking that I should put up a protection spell around the property tomorrow. That way I can actually go outside without being in danger of being attacked by demons." I tell them as I dig through my dresser for some pajamas.
It seems clear that I am going to be here for a while, especially since I now have nowhere else to go. So, it would be nice to be able to walk around outside or go to the gym without needing an escort.
"Would you be able to do that? Create something that will keep unwanted demons out, while the four of us can still get through it?" Keaton asks me as he starts to take off his jeans to get into bed.
Oh, I hadn't thought about that. I can't do the same spells that we had around the base because those kept everyone except for witches and warlocks out. And I can't do something that keeps out demons specifically, because then Devlin wouldn't be able to get through.
"I'll have to think about it and look through my books to figure out how I will do it. But yes, I'm sure I will be able to do it." I reply. Even if I have to make the spell up myself.
"Then that would be great. Anything that helps protect you is good in our books." Everett tells me and then gives me a kiss on the forehead before walking out of the room with my dirty dishes.
"It would protect all of us, not just me!" I shout after him. I hate that they think that I can't take care of myself.
I know that I don't have a great track record so far, with my one outing into the demon realm. But I have been hunting supernaturals for years and training for even longer. I know how to take care of myself and fight. I was just caught off guard the first time. The demon tricked me and used magic to lure me in, and I wasn't expecting it. But I will be more prepared for that now.
"We don't really need protection, Willow. All of the demons in this area know that we are under Devlin's protection, so they don't even approach us anymore. And even if they did, we know how to protect ourselves." Keaton explains to me as he gets into my bed.
"Is Devlin really that powerful and important?" I ask him as I walk toward the bathroom to change and get ready for bed.
"Yes, he is," Keaton says simply, without any further explanation.
When I stop and raise my eyebrows at him, he just smirks.
"Okay, then why don't the other demons know that I am under his protection?" I ask Keaton.
"Well, I suppose they do since you're living here now. But you're a witch. Most supernaturals haven't even seen a witch in twenty years. So, that makes you more tempting for them, some of the demons would be willing to risk Devlin's wrath to get their hands on you."
Keaton's explanation makes sense, and I know that it would be easier for me to just put up a protection spell around the property instead of needing to glamour myself every time I go outside.
"Okay, but I can protect myself as well. I have been hunting for years. I have just never run into a demon before meeting you guys, I don't know as much about them. But I'm sure that you guys could teach me, and then I wouldn't need your protection as much."
