*Liana*
I continued struggling when a hand appeared on Phelan's shoulder and the next thing I knew, I was free of him and Phelan had flown across the dance floor, causing those around to gasp and move out of the way. I found myself staring into Zev Hunter's eyes, which were normally a vibrant blue but now were flashing amber. I blinked. Must be the lights in here, I thought vaguely.
"Liana," Zev gently pulled me to him. "Are you okay?"
"I am now, thank you," I said softly.
"Did he hurt you?"
"Not really," I absently rubbed my arm where Phelan had grabbed me. I focused back on Zev when I heard him growl as he carefully examined the bruise forming on my arm.
"I'll kill him," Zev said in a flat voice.
"No, can't we just go?" I asked, not wanting a fight to happen. I didn't want anyone else to get hurt. My eyes widened. "Hanna!" I looked around Zev to see Rafe, Sarina, Priscilla, Nash and Colt were with her and she appeared unhurt. I relaxed slightly.
"She's fine," Zev said without turning around. He glared at Phelan, who was approaching them with a scowl.
"No means no, didn't your parents teach you any manners?" Zev pulled me behind him as Rafe walked up to join them, standing beside Zev with his arms crossed.
"He was clearly raised by wolves," Rafe smirked slightly.
Phelan gave a slow grin. "Got that right. I was just having a little fun with the new girl in town. I'll see you later, doll." He gave Zev a defiant look and then disappeared into the crowd.
Zev started to go after him but Rafe held him back. "We can deal with him later," He said quietly. Zev didn't look happy to wait but he nodded in agreement.
I watched them with wide eyes and felt like I was missing something. Biting my lip, I turned and returned to my table. "Hanna, did he hurt you?" I asked anxiously.
"No, I'm fine," Hanna assured me. "You?"
"I'm okay now," I glanced at Zev, who now stood beside me.
"Well, this has been a good night for you. You got hit on by two guys," Hanna joked, clearly trying to lighten the tension around us.
"Two?" Zev's eyes hardened.
"Tripp Hodges tried to get her dance with him too," Hanna rolled her eyes. "He's having trouble handling Liana's rejection."
"Oh, really?" Zev asked softly, a glint in his eyes. He looked at me. "If you want to dance, you can dance with me," He told me.
"Oh, really?" I mimicked, raising an eyebrow and trying to ignore the butterflies in my stomach.
"Really." Zev said firmly. His eyes softened. "Would you like to dance?"
"Seriously?" Priscilla put her hands on her hips and glared at us.
Zev gave her a dark look before focusing back on me, a expectant look on his face.
"Oh," I blushed. "I, uh, don't know how." I admitted. " To dance, I mean." Ugh, so embarrassing. Articulate as ever, I thought sarcastically.
"That's okay. Just follow my lead," Zev took my hand and walked me back to the dance floor. He pulled me close and I automatically put my arms around his neck.
"Wait, this is a fast song," I said, staring into his eyes. "I don't think we're supposed to dance like this."
"Don't care," Zev murmured. "I like holding you." He said in a low voice.
